Why Is Lying Wrong
Everywhere you look, lying is seen as a horrible thing where you are breaking someones trust. In some cultures, lying is even seen as a crime or a sin. Lying is not only morally wrong, but also may have serious consequences.

Lying, or telling lies, is defined as “not telling the truth,” which has been debated many times. Is telling a partial truth lying? Since the definition is so abstract, I will be using partial truths as lies in this essay.

That being said, lying can easily break someones trust in you. If you were to lie to someone, who else is to say you won’t lie again, or haven’t lied before? This can make you appear not only shady, but untrustworthy. People could refuse to hire you if you had a history of lying.

Stephanie Ericsson is going to explain lying in her article “Ways We Lie” her main point is to show that lying is not only going to hurt you but also others. I agree with Ericsson about all people lie. Ericsson starts off with explaining the white lie which is a lie that you use when you think it is necessary to lie rather than to tell the truth. Sometimes you think a lie is easier for someone to handle rather than the cold hard truth.…

According to the author of Why We Lie , David Smith we are not aware of the lies we tell. That we as social beings are so good at deception we have fooled ourselves. The debate over the acceptability of lying is a complicated one. Some feel that it is morally wrong and only ever worsens a situation. Others feel that it is acceptable in cases where feelings could be hurt, or if a person’s self-esteem may be lowered. However, there are instances in which lying happens simply to avoid the consequences of a person’s actions, and most would agree that it is morally wrong. Instead of going back and forth between “lying is wrong” and “lying is okay sometimes,” a better use of our time would be learning to improve our honesty with ourselves and with the people around…

First off let me start of by saying that we lie. We all do. We exaggerate, we leave out things, we avoid confrontation, we try to be inconsideration of other people feelings, we conveniently forget some aspects of the truth and even keep secrets. Like most people, I find myself in situations of small falsehoods and still think of my self of an honest person. Sure I lie, but it’s not really bothering anyone or anything.…

Being raised in the Capitalist system based on competition, we were taught that it was fine to tell lie. Some argued that it was fine to lie when it is a death and live matter, others may argue that it is o.k to lie if it doesn't hurt any one. On my personal level, I don't feel it is morally comfortable to lie to anyone. Because of the society we live in is filled with lies and mistrust doesn't mean we, as the newest generation should learn to lie. Instead, I want to live in a lie free life.…

Lying can help protect feelings of others. For example, in the article, “it’s the truth” by NBC news Randy cohen states that “some people lie to protect someone from serious harm.” This shows that cohen lies just to protect people’s feelings. This is important because cohen likes to lie but he uses it in a good way. For example, in the article lies, lies, lies, by paul gray it states that the military and intelligence officials will as a matter of routine lie to protect secret plans or agents at risk. This shows that the military protect their secret plans so they won't die.,what I mean by this is the military is lying to protect each other so they won't die. In conclusion I believe lying is ok only when it's used to protect others.…
