The Entombment was painted in 1603-1604. It is now held in the National Gallery in London. It was a painting of Jesus in the garden tomb. The painting is said to be unfinished. In the painting, it shows him being carried to a sepulchre. missing piece in the top right was intended to be the sepulchre. (A room built out of a stone rock in which a dead person is buried) He intentionally avoided putting detail on some of faces to leave it up to the audience who they thought the people were. Some people say that it was suppose to be
the three mary’s. Nicodemus mary, Mary Salome, and the Virgin Mary. Others say that the lack of painting detail is due to the lack of painting supplies.
The Battle of Cascina was a painting meant to go across the hall from Leonardo's painting of the Battle of Anghiari in the Palazzo Vecchio. The actual battle was fought in July 28, 1364 between troops of Florence and Pisa. The paintings was never finished by Michelangelo or Leonardo's painting. However, he created many cartoon copies of this painting. It was copied by many artists.
