Why Is Slavery Important In American History?
About 10 million slaves were brought to America from the time slavery started to the time it ended. Americans were bringing slaves to their country from Africa since Jamestown, and they were bringing in slaves from Africa for about 245 years total. Slavery is something that will always bring back terrible memories into people’s minds because of how horrible of a time it was.

First, there were many different things Americans forced slaves to do. They used slaves to pick cotton and tobacco for them (History.com staff,”Slavery in America ”,2009). They also used slaves to do most of their hard labor (History.com staff,”Slavery in America ”,2009). “Slavery in America began when the first African slaves were brought to the North American colony of Jamestown, Virginia, in 1619, to aid in the production of such lucrative crops as tobacco.”(History.com staff,”Slavery in America ”,2009). In conclusion, The Americans used slaves for many different tasks.
