He was a "high-maintenance co-worker" who demanded excellence from his staff and was known for his blunt delivery of criticism. He never gave up and steadfastly pursued his dreams, and is believed to have never been driven by the riches or the fame that followed his success. Jobs was clearly obsessed with the products that his company rolled out, and pursued them to the minutest detail. Was he an effective leader? Yes, Jobs proved his ability to be an effective leader over a long period of time. With Apple Computer, CEO Steve Jobs was part of the leadership that created a steady stream of “insanely great” products: the Apple II, the original Macintosh computer, and the iPod, iPhone, and iPad. He also helped revolutionize the way we buy music through iTunes and how we enjoy animated movies through Pixar. Jobs displayed amazing creativity, imagination and passion, and these were exactly the traits needed to create a string of successful products, designed for the mass market, but also designed with the highest degree of detail and beauty. Jobs’ lack of other key leadership traits, such as humility, altruism or citizenship did damage his ability to gain others’ trust and foster relationships, but he was still able to successfully help build one of the world’s most valuable companies, despite these flaws. Having the right mix of leadership traits for the task at hand is what’s ultimately required for success, and Jobs’ creativity, imagination and passion served him exceedingly
