The way Tommy said this story to Carls was in a way that Carl can believe it and everyone can believe in Ms. Ferenczi’s story about Gryphon. Another way was when Tommy whispered to himself in the bus, “There is a tree . . . That I’ve seen . . . (pg.63, l.606 to 610.)”. Tommy showed the way on how he knew every windmill,

They were all expecting one of the mothers who would provide an “easeful class day”(p. 43, l.43) but instead they got something a little different and a new substitute. Laurie lied about who Charles was to be able to talk to his parents about something without them knowing that Charles did not exist and the he was the one committing all of the acts that were claimed to be Charles. Laurie had lied about Charles in every scenario that had truly been him, both positive and negative, this means that Laurie had lied to his parents quite a lot, making himself a rather large liar. One of these many instances occurred when “Charles yelled during story hour and hit a boy in the stomach and made him cry.”(347), once again lying about who had really completed those acts. Even so, Laurie’s mother still found out about Charles at the PTA meeting when “ No one mentioned Charles” (349), and after confronting the teacher learned that Charles did not exist and that Laurie had committed all of the misconducts. This reason shows that Laurie is a liar as well as a misbehaving attention seeker and shows how he had…

Courageous and full of determination, Jake Garson in one of the short stories I’m Still Here, written by Veronica Ross, shows the set of characteristics that many Canadians regard as expressing their unique place and role in the world. He tried to fight and stand up for his own rights against the government through his act of bravery. By doing this, he had influenced many people in his hometown that faced the same situation as Jake; however, they did not show the same kind of courage that Jake showed. Readers who like to reevaluate and rethink what they are reading are recommended to read short stories such as I’m Still Here. It is one of the stories that teach us the moral lessons of standing up for yourself without anger or violence and to have a positive attitude at all times. This is one of the effects it had made to the short story. Some other effects also include a slow beginning introduction with an unpredictable ending. The author also does an excellent job of capturing the reader’s interest through plots twists, characters, theme, symbolism and much more, which made an effective short story. Although the use of vulgar language had made an unattractive impression, it showed the characteristics and emotions of the character inside the story, which made it more alive for the readers to read. Kezia, the main character from the short story The Wedding Gift, written by Thomas Raddall had a similar situation like Jake. Both of the short stories teaches us the moral lessons of standing up for yourself.…

He wasn’t fully qualified or did not have the corresponding licenses to teach, but due to the circumstances he was fortuned enough to become their permanent teacher. The first person Mr. Michie introduced to us was an eighth grader from Ralph Ellison Educational and Vocational Guidance Center. Tavares was a bright loud, and outspoken student who questioned policies. Instead of answering Mr. Michie’s questioned he redirect his question with a question of his own, which was “Why are teachers allowed to bring food and eat it in their classroom”. He was disputing the fact that teacher are using double standards. The children of Ralph Ellison Educational School were not permitted to bring snacks/soda in the classrooms. He managed to ignite a spark of interest in the classroom where the student wanted to host a group activity of a mock trial; Tavares was very determined to be the lawyer the student body, but his peers did not elect him as their class representative. Therefore, instead of quitting and not participating Tavares was selected to play the defense attorney.
