Why Patriotism Is My Country

Patriotism, such a short word but actually it is more than ten letters. I think patriotism is doing everything for your homeland. These are working for it, going elections, attending national holiday ceremonies and being respectful your founder and all soldiers who died for your homeland during wars in the past. This is not very easy thing for everybody to do. Everybody can say I love my homeland but patriotism is not only saying “I love”. If you feel proud while singing your national anthem, if your eyes become tear filled while listening a poem about your nation, if you miss your founder everyday even you haven’t see him before, this is patriotism and this is being Turkish. Because of this, loving your country means belong to this nation. So that, consider for a minute before saying I love my country. If your love includes all things, which are mentioned above, shout it in everywhere and at every time. By the way, I want to mention about my proud, of my country. This is impossible not to be proud of it. It is representative, and it is TURKEY. Last week on that important day, I was in Diyarbakır to see my family and the worst thing was, we didn’t do anything for republic except hang our flag to balcony. Why? Why didn’t we do anything? Because Turkey has been changing. We couldn’t do anything. You can’t do anything for republic in Diyarbakır. Actually, Turkey hasn’t been celebrating national holidays like old national holiday ceremonies for some years. I can’t understand why, but this is the situation. We should celebrate it more enthusiastically in every year, because it is our future. If we don’t celebrate it, it can be disappeared. We as republic’s guards, we should protect our future, because without republic our future can become a Syria, an Iraq and something like these. Last week, two days after Republic Day Turkey had elections. I don’t want to make any comments about it but after elections I am sure republic became more significant to protect our secular, nationalist, amicable country because people cant see something very obvious. We should more careful and more cautious for our country. Republic, peace, equality and contemporary are our lifestyle nobody and nothing can’t change as long as we are
