Why People Cheat with Their Partners and How to Overcome It ?
WHY PEOPLE CHEAT WITH THEIR PARTNERS AND HOW TO OVERCOME IT?

When someone took what is yours, it is definitely a major heartbreak. But what happened when the person you married cheated on you behind your back? Yes, it feels as though as if someone stabbed you straight in the heart, taking your most vital organ and left you nothing. Cheating is any situation that has you in a compromising situation with someone other than your own partner (Larry James, November 2005). There are many reasons why people cheat and the reasons are needs are not fulfilled by their partners, partners always demonstrate insecurities and low self esteem, having insecurities towards you partner and ways to overcome are to forgive your partner, learning to trust your partner again, communicate with your partner and break off all contacts with the other man or other woman. Cheating occurs because sometimes needs are not fulfilled by their partners. Most primary needs for a woman are affection, understanding, and respect from their partners while basic needs for a man are attention, acceptance and trust. Both women and men longing for as much attention from their partner. They need to feel like they are needed and important. They need somebody they can confide in. Without the attention, people tend to look for others who can provide them with what they need. Sometimes a person will cheat on their partner because they feel like their partner is not giving them as much attention as they would like them to (Marvin W Perry, 2008). When there is lack of attention in a relationship, we are tempted to look elsewhere, thus we will cheat. Another reason for cheating is partners always demonstrate insecurities and low self esteem. Insecurities towards your partner happens because we think of the idea of what if they falls for someone who is probably younger or prettier. When we let insecurities and our low self esteem control our mind, it will cause a larger gap distance between you

A relationship is meant for two people only, but some can’t seem to count. In today’s society, there are more people being unfaithful to their mate everyday as if they were never committed to them, and that is just selfish. Cheating does not only affect someone emotionally, but also physically. The pain after a breakup from cheating can make a person have a negative outlook about being in a committed relationship, and this can also stop them from being happy with someone who can not only be a good candidate for them, but also faithful and loyal to them. When I felt like cheating, I would always talk with my dad. He always said, “If you are unhappy, leave that person completely alone, done cheat on them”. (B. Robinson) He was…

In the film adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s “The Great Gatsby”, each character has their own differences and similarities. But the major changes shown in the film, are between the characters of Gatsby and Nick. The film’s take on these two characters stays within the style of the book, but some information about them are seen to be excluded in the film. Through the directing style of Baz Luhrmann, both Nick Carraway and Jay Gatsby are not portrayed in full as F. Scott Fitzgerald had written them as, even though they do share some traits with their counterparts.…

Cheating damages the trust in the relationship the most. Trust is the foundation to any relationship and once that rust is broken, it is hard to rebuild that trust again. After your partner finds out about your infidelity, he or she will go through an endless cycle of emotions. One day he or she will blame you and the next day blame themselves. Cheating also damages a person's self-esteem. Your partner will start to question his or her…

Cheating is quite common and the reasons are multiple. For this critical thinking paper, the topic I choose is Infidelity. I read an article called "Psychology of Infidelity: Why men and women cheat" by John Benson. This article was broken down into a few parts.Dr. Ley stated that men and women have a different outlook on cheating. A women tends to cheat more along the lines of a romance novel where she feels a lot of intimate attention and excitement. Men on the other hand cheat to get away. They are more likely to have one night stands then a long term secret relationship. They tend to want someone younger and want to feel that kind of escape. This article also talked a lot about how personality traits can be tied into infidelity. David Schmidt, psychologist at Bradley University, told Jay Dixit of Psychology Today, there are five personality factors and each has a different likelihood to cheat. Extroversion was the first trait. Extroverts are driven by sexual desires and seek pleasure. They tend to look for situations to satisfy their needs. Emotional Stability was another trait. People who are emotionally stable are less likely to wander off and cheat on their spouse. The third one was openness. Those who are open to trying new things might be more likely to cheat. Also, people who disregard other people's feelings and opinions might also be more likely to become unfaithful. The last one was conscientiousness. Those who struggle to control impulses and whose morals might not be structured usually are cheaters. This article gives you examples of what happens once an affair is out on the open. The person that cheated is often left feeling guilty and the person cheated on feels betrayal, anger and sadness. Surviving infidelity was the last topic in the article. Most relationships that give it another try after finding out that their partner was unfaithful, don't work out. There's always that lack of trust there. The relationships that do work out usually go…

A general accepted assumption and expectation is that people should remain faithful when married, engaged or in any other type of a serious committed relationship. Nonetheless, whether a couple is truly in love or not, temptations and opportunities to cheat arise. There are many issues surrounding this dilemma of cheating (where one cheats on the other or both cheat on each other) that many couples are faced with. However, the focal issue and concentration of this essay is whether or not cheating in a serious relationship is morally acceptable. I am of the opinion that it is morally unacceptable and will support this viewpoint with the following points.…

Trustworthiness is an asset that is difficult to come by in the world we live in today. Ever since I was brought up as a little girl, I have been taught to be honest in all my dealings. Cheating is against the standards I set for myself, because I try to respect those that I know and am close with. To me, when somebody does something dishonest, I see that as disrespect. The last thing I would want to do is offend somebody by disrespecting them.…
