why should i be considered
My aspiration is to design aircraft that don’t use fuel and have no tendencies of crash-landing, this would make air travel safer, more reliable and environmental friendly. My friend, Michael and I were playing with my favorite electrical toy (helicopter) but it didn’t take long before it crash landed, this resulted in the breaking apart of the propellers and some wires were cutoff, I had to fix it before my mom gets back, I put it back together but it wasn’t as perfect as it used to. Fixing my toys led to fixing household electronics and this led to an interest in engineering. I have pursed this interest at North Hennepin Community College in Brooklyn Park Minnesota and enrolled in the pre-engineering associate program to graduate in the fall of 2014, it is my intention to have an internship in my field of study. To further my education I intend to transfer to the institute of technology at the University of Minnesota to obtain my bachelors in aerospace engineering.

I have being through a lot of difficulties in life but the one that helped change my life was the fear of getting whooped by either of my parents. I was only six years old when Michael my best friend and I were playing with my favorite to which was a flying helicopter, not too long the toy broke and I was left with two choices either to get it fixed or get whooped, in a confused state of mind started to and my heart rate was elevated, while in that state something unusual happened and I gained some confidence back, after a hour of trying to make it work again, soon the helicopter started to fly again, I was so proud of myself but I couldn’t tell it to my parents that I fixed my helicopter, after this experience I had believe in myself that I can make thing work and actually build them too, I started to build on my believe by reading engineering books and making simple circuit now in the present I can boost of being able to fix an average household appliance.

Determining Red 40 Concentrations Using Absorption with Beer’s Law Introduction I like color and enjoyed learning about wavelengths and the spectrum of light, so I considered incorporating something related to that into my Internal Assessment. We also had just used concentrations in our Group 4 Project, so when I found an experiment that dealt with both of these I thought it was a great idea. This experiment is not completely original; the basic concept has been used multiple times. It uses Beer’s Law: · A is light absorbance · is “molar absorptivity with units of L mol-1 cm-1” · l is the length of the cuvette in centimeters · c is the concentration of the solution in mol L-1…

I chose this career because I have always been interested in how planes are able to fly and how they operate. I think it’s fascinating that such a large machine can lift itself and stay stabilized enough for flight. It would also be exciting to see how they are made and to help build and design them. I would be required to conduct research on production materials, analyze the structural integrity of a plane’s framework, and develop…

Last summer was the first time I accepted that fate controls our lives. It was the second week of summer and one night I was at home watching TV with my family and all of a sudden a feeling washed over me that something bad was about to happen. After five minutes I was experiencing the worst pain in my life. Passing out on our kitchen floor, my parents immediately called an ambulance. Waking up in a hospital bed with an IV in my arm terrified me. I still recall my mother sitting by my side whispering to me that everything was going to be okay. After a little while the doctor came into my room and started to explain that my appendix had about an hour before bursting and that they had to perform an emergency operation to remove it. What the doctor explained was going to be a “simple procedure” could have ended my life. During the surgery there were complications resulting in me lost more blood than I should have done. My fate could have been decided right then and there but I got lucky. Thankfully I woke up in a okay condition. Coming home from the hospital in an absurd amount of pain, having to rest for about two months and not being able to move around, see my friends or participate in any family activities made last summer almost unbearable. However the incident helped me realize that no matter how much I want to change my fate it…

My grandparents tried to shield me from the dangers of the street, but it didn’t work. I remember one night my uncle was high on the drug “sherm” and broke into our house. My grandfather shot him, thankfully he didn’t kill him. I will never forget that night as long as I live for many reasons: 1) I was scared because I thought someone was going to kill us; 2) I never seen anyone shot before or that much blood; 3) I would never thought a parent would knowingly shoot their own child; 4) I couldn’t believe that my uncle would stoop so low and try to rob his own parents; 5) seeing my grandfather taken away in handcuffs and my uncle in a stretcher; 6) my grandmother screaming. My grandfather was never charged for the shooting.…

Something difficult I have gone through that changed me. Although, in the beginning it was extremely difficult to cope, I believe this experience changed me for the better. It has shaped me into the person I am today. Being the oldest of three in a broken family has forced me to become a role model, and taught me to take on large responsibilities. I learned how to use my independence for the better of my siblings. I learned how to cope with difficult people, I learned how to put on a happy face, I learned how to leave my family life at home. I learned how to be happy with my friends and at school. I learned how to smile through the day, ultimately being content with my life. I gained the strength to look at the pros and not the cons. This unfortunate situation has caused me to become a more positive person. If I could give one piece of advice to…

Throughout High School and college I didn't know what career path that I wanted to take. As a college student, I just gained the opportunity to express myself, to spread my wings and to go after my dream only to realize that I didn’t know what it was that I wanted to pursue. The pressure and expectation from everybody did not help the cause either. So I decided that I am going to pursue engineering because it is a profession that I could finish and get a job after 4 years, plus I had friends I knew that were also doing engineering. I attended an engineering seminar along with my friends to attain a better understanding of the job and what it entails to achieve the goal. The classes I needed to take to be an engineer required a lot of math and physics, and once if I became and engineer I would need to apply those subjects in the job. I knew right then that engineering wasn't the right profession for me because I would…

A big event that has changed my life was when my older brother moved away to go to the navy. This changed my life cause I did not know if I was ever going to see him again. When he told me he was leaving and not going to be back for awhile i thought he was leaving because of me, I was a little brat back then so yeah and at the age i was i thought everything was my fault. The day my brother left was probably the saddest thing to ever happen because me and him would always hang out and play video games or walk around town or do something fun. I remember when we dropped him off at the airport i was clinched on to his leg and i was refusing to let go because I didn’t want him to leave. Now that i look back on it i think one of the reasons why i didn’t want him to leave is because he was kinda like my best friend/ role model so yeah and well he is my older brother and I didn’t want anything to happen to him.…
