Why Soccer Is Important To Me Research Paper
Ever since I was a freshman in high school I struggled in school, and I think part of it was because of my time management and me just not being responsible enough. I had that mentality that soccer was everything to me and something that was going to help me make it in life. After years past I realized without the grades I won’t be able to play the sport I love at a college level. I use to attend Iona Prep and I loved everything about that school. I competed at the varsity level as a freshman and also was the kicker for the football team. I feel like that was part of the problem. I played two sports in the same season and I just did not manage my time well. I’m not saying it’s not impossible to have good grades and

As an athlete I have to make sure that I'm getting my school work done, and doing it well, but also make sure that I'm not slacking in my sports. I'm in three sports, one for each of the seasons during school. In the fall I'm in soccer, winter I'm in gymnastics, and in the spring I am in softball. At the beginning of the year when I'm in soccer, I am trying my best to make sure I can get a good start to the school year in all my classes. My parents have always told me school comes…

Ever since kicking my first soccer ball during Kinder Kicks, soccer has become a fundamental aspect of my life. Not only have I been playing the sport since then, but the sport has also influenced me beyond solely playing it. It is the culture surrounding the game as well. It is waking up early every Saturday morning to watch the Liverpool game, or getting ready to cheer on the New England Revolution in Gillette Stadium in the evenings. Soccer has been embedded everywhere in my life, from the posters on my bedroom walls to the jerseys that continue to accumulate on my closet floor. This passion has driven me to share the sport with as many as I can. With the Natick Soccer Organization, I have been organizing tournaments for U10 and U14 boys…

There are over seven billion people on this Earth, so what is it that makes me so different? I wear Nike, I drive a car, I play video games, I have chores, and could be considered a pretty normal person. I love, I laugh, I get angry, and I have emotions just like every other human being. The one thing I heavily identify with is football. For as long as I can remember I’ve played ball, and made some great friends along the way. The picture in the top left is a great representation of this. Football has taught me lessons of leadership, perseverance, toughness, how to deal with the highest of highs, and the lowest of lows. (Bottom left: aftermath of beating Staley) Above all else, the best thing it has taught me was loyalty. Not only loyalty to a cause, but loyalty to my brothers, and ultimately my family. Football has created a foundation for my character, and without it I am certain I would not be the same person I am today.…

Tennis and marching band are two extracurricular activities that require both dedication and commitment. Prior to entering my first year of high school, I decided that I wanted to take my love for tennis to the next level and make the O’Fallon high school tennis team. In 5th grade, I committed myself to playing the alto saxophone in the school band and all that entails with lessons and practice, with an eye on playing in the high school marching band. During high school, I made a commitment to participate in the Rose Bowl Parade in California. After making that decision, I found out I made the tennis team. Practicing both these activities in the summer and playing during the fall semester put me at odds with my parents on what should come first tennis or band. The amount of time needed for both activities to succeed was monumental and would be an uphill battle compared to the actual time I had. This caused internal conflict knowing that one will not get as much attention as the other. At that moment, I decided to come up with a solution to my problem then put it into action. One way or another I had developed two answers. I realized to become good at band and tennis something had to change.…

Quotes like this help me a lot when I’m playing soccer, especially during a soccer game. This quote is a perfect example of a soccer tournament that my soccer team and I had participated in. For this tournament, we went to Madison and the tournament was called Madison Rush Spring Classic 2015. In this tournament, there were two brackets and my team was in Bracket B. In my bracket, the teams were Croatian Eagles Red U12G (my team), Verona SC U13G, Monona Grove SC Cobras, and Rush McFarland U12.…

Soccer had always been my main passion. For eleven years it was what I loved to do and I spent all my free time doing it. There was never a time when there wasn't a ball at my feet. Although as time went on I noticed my passion slowly breaking down. Playing became less and less fun and it became something I no longer looked forward to. I tried to deny this for a while, I went to college camps and continued to try to pursue my old dream of playing college soccer and was even invited to play with the national team but despite these seemingly wonderful things it didn't feel right and I wasn't enjoying it. In my sophomore year of high school the combination of a selfish coach, unwilling teammates and failure to make the varsity level finally forced…

My life has revolved around soccer since I was four years old. My whole family was born into the sport and I’m so thankful that I have the support from my family and friends to continue to follow my dream in playing college soccer. I believe my life would not be the same without participating in the sport I love and playing with the people I grew up with. I wouldn’t have met half the people I know now. All my teammate’s families that treat me like their family would have been just imaginary. I wouldn’t have a second family to fall back on when I need. Soccer had made me for who I am. The reason I’m so competed and driven is because of the game. Soccer has helped me become a responsible hardworking young adult that doesn’t like to fail. My never-quit…

High school arrived faster than I thought was ever possible. It brought new faces, teachers, feelings, friends, etc. Those new feelings brought on something that adults told me never to do as I was growing up. The renowned phrase, “don’t ever give up on your dreams,” rung through my ears as I made the realization that soccer was no longer something I was passionate about. It felt as though I failed my parents and my peers, but I knew this was the most rational decision I could make for myself to ensure my…
