The Civil War As we all know the Civil War is a huge part of United States history. Have you ever wondered why the Civil War Started? Have you thought about the impact this war had on the country, people, slaves, and trading. It's very important to understand that intentions of the war along with life during the war and the economy have shaped what the U.S, has become today. The war started on April 12 at 4:30 A.M. And everybody from the charleston's citizens dashed away. According to Danzer, Klor de Alva, Krieger, Wilson, and Woloch the war started in South Carolina. The soldiers had routines on the camp they would struggle. Some of the soldier volunteers to join the war, most of them had participated in the war of Mexico. The volunteers felt good on the battlefield because they wanted to save their Union. In the war soldiers would died from the disease from the bullets, and shells. The amount of people died of this was 400,000 and 500,000 of soldiers. Some of the soldiers had poor shelters called "dog tent" when they were in the war that was the best shelters for them. The soldiers would use a blanket for the dump ground so the wool blanket will keep them chill off. But when the soldiers marched they didn't take it when them or when they would enter combat. They regret it when they noticed that the weather changed. When the soldiers that were marching had one pound of bread fresh meat, coffee, sugar, and salt. The diets disappeared from the soldiers because they would get a diseases scurry proliferated. Cotton was the most popular thing that worth the most that everybody wanted. The south produced almost about two-thirds of the world's cotton. The south had 29 percent of the railroad and the percent of the bank was 13%. The south would use the slave labor for the agricultural for the economy. And on the other side the North was doing well in their economy. According to http://www.nps.gov/resources/story.htm?id=251 the north percent for the manufacturing was 90% came for the northern states. They had 17 times more cotton then the south had and woolen. The other thing they had a lot was leather 30 times better then the south. Some other things they had was pig iron 20 times more and something else was the firearms 32 times more. The north had 3,200 firearms and the south only had 100 of them. Only 40 percent of the North people was engaged in agriculture and the south had 84 percent. The north were doing better in farming then the south because they would do it their-self the south will make their slave to do it. Almost half of the states were producing corn, wheat, and oats in the north. The immigration impacted the northern states. The percent of people living in urban areas was 26%. People will be living next to the railroad factories and the machine-tool. The north and the south were getting ready for the war for the free market and the slave labor. The south had a tiny base
