The state of Texas is where there have been more requests to remove The Giver than any other state in the Country. Furthermore, The Giver was still challenged in Massachusetts, Washington, and many other states in the Country. In general, more books are being banned or challenged in the East and South side of America, than there are in the North and West. From 1993-1999 The Giver has received many requests for removal, but since then there have been little to no demands for The Giver to be banned. There are also people who don't agree with its religious point of view, which is ridiculous because there isn't any religion that pertains to the book at all, except for its dystopian society, that's all there is to it.
