Because if he would have stayed, he will become a dead man. Northup decided it would be more pleasant if he were to go to William Ford's estate located many miles away from where he currently was. During his journey, Northup had to flee from many things, Tibeats being one of them. After he’s escaped, Tibeats called for local slave searchers and explained he had a runaway slave. But what the slave searchers, didn't know what that Northup was already miles away. Throughout his journey, he crossed many difficult challenges, such as swamps and forests. One swamp he would always remember was the "Great Pacoudrie Swamp." Looking at the disgusting, horrifying trenchers swamp, he knew that this would be the hardest obstacle of all. When he was notified about Tibeats behavior towards Northup, Ford became filled with rage and marched to Tibeats plantation with Northup by his side as testimony. Ford knew that God would never permit such cruel behavior, to happen on his land. He found it cruel and deceitful to see another slave getting beat by their master, and he could not tolerate it. Once meeting with Tibeats, Ford stared at him for the longest moment till finally, Master Ford spoke. He was frenetic with the way Tibeats treated Northup and the others, using hatches and broad-axes upon slaves was shameful and shouldn't be allowed. William’s harsh words towards Tibeats made him frown, upon such inhumanity of how cruel and unfair he was towards his slaves. Although I must agree with William Ford, for standing up to Tibeats actions, it was Tibeats who was always wrong here. Slaves aren't a worthless piece of trash. They are human just like the rest of us. Imagine waking up every morning, and working from the time you arose till the time the moon appeared.
