There were several reasons why the Roman Empire fell. One of them is unemployment. They had too many people and not enough jobs. If people did not have jobs they were not contributing to the community, they were only taking away. Another reason why they fell was corrupt government officials.

Specifically, in America we have many Roman influences in our daily life. The Architecture of many of our government buildings is directly copied from the Roman Empire. The columns and details in Roman Temples are also seen in modern civic buildings.
In fact I remember seeing a beautiful building in Santa Rosa that had columns that reminded me of some of the buildings I have seen pictures of in my history book. They also created a system of government that is used in our country, our states, our counties, and even our schools. Their government and laws were very strong. They invented many new forms of government such as the republican government. This government structure was set up so there was a top and then it branched down until it got to everyone. Everyone could vote on most things. The roadways and waterways (aqueducts) that the Romans created, greatly influenced the 64,285,009 km's of roads that exist in the world today. In fact, all of today’s built roadways are based on the Roman design.
