Individuals nowadays do not take in matter the effect of what they are doing to their diet and consequentially, their bodies. Food was made to be enjoyed, but people have to take in matter what they are consuming. To have a safe and healthy lifestyle one must change their way of eating meat to a better and healthier diet. Veganism is a great lifestyle that not only helps the environment and animals, but an individual as well. According to the Journal of American Medicine, one third of American adults are suffering from obesity and 17% of American children share the same fate. …show more content…
Every living thing should be taken in with love and kindness. Animals that are grown through company farms are very mistreated. Take for example the poultry scene, chickens are forced to grow in overly crowded cages and pins. The extent tot their space around is thus small that not even one can completely move around or lift up a wing. Along with limited living these poor creatures are also tortured and victims of animal cruelty. According to AnimalLiberationFront.com, these poor creatures have their beaks sealed off with a hot blade and then later get their throats slice while still being consciously awake. But, this is not he only thing that meat producing animals are faced with. They are also victims of drugs and external hormones. Chickens are faced with one of the most difficult obstacles. They are expected to meet up certain requirements, such as breast and thigh ratios. If these animals do not meet the criteria they will be plumped and even so if they still do not meet the requirements, they are then discarded. Same thing goes for cattle, much of them are fed corn so that they can increase in size will a much less portion of food. The glucose in the corn forces the cows to get bigger so that they can produce more amounts of meat. All these animals all are also susceptible to diseases that are found in the their stalls. This problem is later then found in the super markets where they for sale for the costumers. Meat is not a vital resource required for a human to live on, it is by one’s choice. To stop these actions one must abstain from purchasing animal

Animal abuse is a topic that most people are aware of in this day and age. But to clarify this is not going to be a speech appealing to the pity of Sarah McLachlan's song during animal cruelty commercials. Believe me this topic is truly sad, but its gets worse when you look into the current problems. I will elaborate on what is currently being done. The SPCA is a very large benefactor in stopping animal abuse as many of you probably know by their numerous commercials asking for donations and public awareness but they cannot take this entire burden on their shoulders alone. The type of animal abuse I would like talk about is specific to farm animals. This is a particular topic that many people do not consider. The example i am going to use first is the life of a cow and then elaborate on chickens. A female cow on a dairy farm is repetitively impregnated, again, and again for the production of milk. Hundreds of cows residing on thousands of dairy farms across america are artificially inseminated to constantly produce milk for our consumption. After a time of nine months the cow gives birth to a calf, within hours or a day the calf is taken from the mom and transported to a veal…

Sunaura and Andrew Taylor’s “Is It Possible to Be a Conscientious Meat Eater?” is an informative essay about the dirty side of the meat industry. They speak out of the physical abuse and poor living conditions endured by animals raised solely for the purpose of consumption. Because of the inhumane treatment towards animals, Taylor talks about a vegan solution and the many benefits associated with it. Animal cruelty is a sensitive topic that readers can easily be persuaded to either side. But, for the purpose of this essay, the reader can be swayed towards being a conscientious consumer. As mentioned already, animal rights and veganism will be discussed.…

Our society is showered with happy animals living on a farm where the cows graze in lush green fields and the chickens have the run of the barnyard. This free-roaming image of an animal living out their days in sunny fields is far from reality. A majority of the animals that are raised for food live miserable lives in confined, dark, overcrowded facilities, commonly called "factory farms."…

    Animals Vs Vegetarianism

Vegetarians do not eat any meat but still consume egg and dairy products. However, the egg and dairy industry may also raise their animals in poor conditions, even organic, free-range, or “certified humane” farms. The male infant laying hens “are invariably killed as soon as they have been sexed” because they have “no commercial value” (Mason and Singer 279). Price could still arise as an issue for many because similar to the free-range and certified humane meat, these types of eggs and dairy products are also generally more expensive. “Veganism is a sure way of completely avoiding participation in the abuse of farm animals” which is what Singer believes is the only sure way of avoiding the unethical implications of eating factory farmed food (Mason 279). Singer gives compelling evidence and asserts that going vegan, despite the other alternatives, is the only sure way to avoid taking part in the abuse of animals. Since vegans do not consume any animal based products at all, they completely ensure that they are not promoting the abuse of farm animals anywhere in the production process. He further maintains that no matter how drastic the change away from supporting the factory farming industry could be on the individual at first, not doing so simply because it is difficult is an unsound moral…

In a vegetarians point of view, being a vegetarian is much more healthy than stuffing one’s face with factory made foods. It’s organic, straight from the earth, so nothing can harm the human body. Unlike in crowded factories where it is subjected to dusty, murky environments. Often, there are chemicals used in foods that may do more harm than good for one’s body. When a person consumes fruits vegetables and grains, nutrients that are essential to life enter the body. It will keep one in check, and on a steady diet filled with vitamin rich foods. If you are vegetarian, it is proven that a person can live longer due to all the healthy earth-grown foods the person consumes. Unlike when a human eats meats and cheeses, which are mainly, fats. These fats can contain unhealthy acids too, so instead of consuming a protein filled burger, half of it is just fats and grease.…

In recent discussion of vegetarianism a controversial issue has been whether or not people should live the vegetarian lifestyle. In my opinion, I think everyone should eat both meat AND vegetables. That’s the reason that humans are called OMNIVORES. Like vegetarians, I agree that eating vegetables and fruits is healthy but I also think that adding meat to your diet is the way to go. I highly disagree with any form of vegetarianism because the risks outweigh the benefits which mean that there is a bigger chance of you becoming ill.…
