Many believe abortion should be legal. According to Womens Issues expert, Linda Lowen, she states “a woman should have control of her body. If the government can force a woman to continue a pregnancy, what about forcing a woman to use a contraception or undergo sterilization?” She makes this valid point to show the double standards between what women should have the right to do and what the world says is appropriate for a woman. Secondly, many have realized that abortion is not used as a form of contraception. Abortion supporter addresses “Only eight
percent of women who have abortions don’t use any form of birth control.” That proves that majority of women who have abortions are responsible for their body.
Many believe abortion should not legal. The main argument is that abortion is murder. According to Maureen Condic, PhD, Associate Professor of Neurobiology explains that “the spinal reflex” is developed in the first eight weeks of pregnancy. Meaning, pain is detected by the fetus in the first trimester. Is this considered murder? Another issue is that Many Americans who pay taxes are against abortion, therefore they shouldn’t have to use tax dollars to fund abortion The American people declared that their hard earned money shouldn’t be used to pay for the death of another
Both sides of the articles have their strength and weaknesses, however, my research has lead me to my original stance abortion should be legal.
