Abortion has been a debatable topic for decades now. Many people believe abortion should be legal; however, many people also believe it should not be legal. Should abortion be legal or illegal?
Many believe abortion should be legal. According to Womens Issues expert, Linda Lowen, she states “a woman should have control of her body. If the government can force a woman to continue a pregnancy, what about forcing a woman to use a contraception or undergo sterilization?” She makes this valid point to show the double standards between what women should have the right to do and what the world says is appropriate for a woman. According him there were no laws prohibiting abortion in the United States until well into the 19th century. By the 20th century every state passed laws to prohibit it.
