Have you ever felt annoyed because the teacher was moving too slow or stressed because the teacher was moving too fast? That’s why students should be grouped in classes based by ability. Schools do this because: some students learn faster than others, and the slower learners might not understand what is happening in class. Some students learn faster than others because the faster learners process their work faster because the faster learners understand what is happening in class. Additionally, slower learners don’t know what’s happening in class because the work is to hard for them. Some people think there should be classes of mixed ability but, I disagree. Students should be sorted by class based on ability because some students learn faster than others. I surveyed our class and 100% of them agreed with me. The class agreed that some students learn faster than others because the would understand because there is always a fast learner in a class and they understand they can work very fast. Colin says, “ In third grade we learned cursive and everyone learned faster than me”. Colin felt this way because he was taking a long time to understand and write in cursive instead of print. Sean said, “ In fifth grade, there were some kids that didn’t understand what was happening in class.” Sean said this because he has seen it happen in his fifth grade class and understood the difficulty of this. Rachel agrees with Sean. She agrees with him because since they were both in the same fifth grade class, they saw the students that didn’t understand what was happening during the class. I think that the work of students really makes them learn
