People think drunk drivers should not only lose their licence but their car, that way they can not drive at all. Others think that people will still break the rules no matter how much they get punished. Depending on how many times they get caught the more the punishment is longer and greater, they get suspended from their licence longer and they need to pay fees and they need to go to classes.

But I promise if these actions are applied, there will be a complete end to the treacherous idea of drinking and driving. First off, law enforcement would drive around to random parties and steak out for people trying to drive under the influence. If they catch them and they blow over the limit, they will be tazed until they drop unconscious to the ground, then pop all of the tires on their car. As an alternative, instead of wasting time with a steak out, cops could blow up all the cars in the area of the party. Maybe that will teach the drinkers to take a taxi or a bus. Now unfortunately, there’s always going to be those people who make it behind the wheel. This is very dangerous to the person driving, but more dangerous to the public who’s actually doing the right thing. So for a solution to that problem, whoever is caught shall be sent to…

Although the punishments for driving under the influence are not pleasant, they are not effective enough. Laws for driving under the influence need to be tougher in The United States of America in order to decrease the amount of fatal accidents and repeat offenders. The best ways to combat these offenses are to increase fines, make the prison sentences more severe, and enforce alcohol interlocks into all vehicles. There are approximately 16,000 deaths a year in America. (Mothers Against Drunk Driving Organization, par. 3.) There are many reasons why the public would not want to make drunk driving laws tougher. Some of these reasons include higher taxes for more arrests and more police officers patrolling the streets at night and on weekends. Not many people want to pay higher taxes. Taxes are the irritating part of the government that most people hate. Some may even say that raising taxes for a reason such as jailing people for a pity crime is nonsense. When looking at a DUI offense compared to a theft or murder, it makes sense that the crime may seem small. However, if someone were to be driving under the influence and got into an accident that caused a death, it could quickly turn into a murder charge.…

Very few people set out to drive while impaired by alcohol. Instead, alcohol impaired driving results from a combination of decisions about drinking and decisions about driving, which brings the two acts together. A person willing to allow impaired friends to drive often arises from the need for a ride in the absence of an available designated driver.
