what they are for. Don’t you ever wonder if the reason they have it is because they need all the water that they have
consumed out of their bodies? Or if they need the blowhole to breathe. I hypnotizes that whales have blowholes in their backs to be able to breathe properly, and they have to have the blowhole in the back because they are not capable of
breathing thru their mouths.
Blowholes are in fact a whales nostrils, they are located in the whale's back because if the nostrils were located i the
front of the whales(like they are for other marine mammals ) the whales would be consuming too much water and it

be able to breathe oxygen.. Baleen Whales, like humpback, blue whales, gray whales Bowhead whales have
two blowholes, located side by side. These nostrils are located in the top of the whales head or in the very back
.
Whales breathe air at the surface of the water by taking quick breaths through their blowhole They usually take
about 1-2 breaths per minute while traveling thru the surface. Humans take about 15-18 breather mich breath is less
than 1/2 a second but the whales and dolphins can absorb much more oxygen into their systems then we can by storing
it in their muscles. Because they use force to get all the old air out, they exhale almost 90% of their old air Female
humpbacks seem to start having babies as early as five or six years old
Whales like dolphins have the habit of sleeping while swimming slowly next to another animals. In fact when marine mammals sleep and swim at once, they are in a state similar to napping but they are very aware of their surroundings. Young whales and dolphins actually rest, eat and sleep while their mother swims. This
quickly becomes a habit for the small mammals that help them when they sleep by themselves when they have the right
age. Individual dolphins also enter a deeper form of sleep, mostly at night. During the day they have to be aware for predators.
In conclusion my hypothesis was proven right. Whales blow holes are indeed the whales nostrils and are
the only way they are capable of having some oxygen.my research was proof of my confirmation. Whales and dolphins are two of the many marine mammals that have to go into the surface to retain oxygen. The nostrils are located in the backs and fronts of their heads.
