Smiley Smile is the twelfth studio album by the American rock band the Beach Boys. It was released on September 18, 1967 and managed to reach number nine on the UK record charts. In the US however, it was not perceived as well and only managed to reach spot forty-one. The CD comes off weak compared to the album Smile, which was a much more well-constructed LP that was never released by the Beach Boys. Smiley Smile took a lot of its inspiration from Smile, the most notable change being that four pre-existing songs from smile were taken to Smiley smile with significantly scaled down arrangements. This however does not make Smiley Smile a bad CD. There are many elements to Smiley Smile that made it an album that stood out for its time such as its Lo-fi…

Facial expressions are a form of demonstrative communication. Communicating includes different facial expressions, tone of voice, or body language to deliver the message. A smile is an example of a positive facial expression, and a frown will be viewed in a more negative manner. Some interpret a grin as arrogance, which obviously would have a negative effect. The audience could take this in the wrong manner and create an isolated situation. Depending on the subject that is being discussed it is up to the lecturer to bring out the right facial expressions. If the subject relies on a more serious matter, the lecturer should not frown but instead maintain a serious face to get the point across. If there is a sense of comedy in the discussion or presentation, the lecturer needs to maintain some laughter as well as smiling during the presentation.…
A facial expression is the movement of the muscles beneath a person’s skin and it often demonstrates someone’s state of mind. For example if a person is upset they may look down and have upwardly slanted eyebrows and a frown. On the other hand a person who is happy will probably smile and have crescent-shaped eyes. Eye-to-eye contact can also show how a person is feeling or what they may be thinking. If a person avoids eye contact it may indicate that they are upset or annoyed, whereas a person who has wide eyes may suggest that they are excited. Facial expressions can help professionals understand how a person may be feeling or thinking. It is also very important that professionals show the right facial expressions too, for example they should smile when speaking to someone to show that they are interested and happy to be with them. This will help the person’s self-esteem and to build a strong and trusting relationship so they can share any personal information. (Wikipedia, 2015) (Carolyn Aldworth,…

Senator McCain became the republican nominee after his Wisconsin primary victory. In his victory speech, McCain rushed to his main point of his speech, which meant he failed to build enough of an appearance that made his main argument become more believable. An example of this is that he only smiled right before he started the speech, but his smile didn’t even last three seconds. Because his smile was so short, the appearance that Senator McCain is an approachable and nice person was not as strong as Obama’s smile during his “Yes We Can” speech.…

Smiling is contagious. One of my goals every day is to smile, whether to myself or to someone else, even a complete stranger. I have a neighbor, an elderly Chinese woman, I have no clue as to what her name is, yet every day when I leave my house I see her on her morning walk and we smile to each other. I once was on the W-line bus on my way to campus and I smiled to a person sitting across from me. I later realized the person was in one of my classes and I introduced myself as the guy that smiled to her on the bus. This person and I have become the closest of friends. I recently had a friend pass away, Johnny Napier, and at his funeral his parents had put up his senior portrait from high school. This was no ordinary senior portrait, however; it was Johnny smiling with a set of joke teeth in his mouth. Johnny's parents knew it was the way Johnny would have wanted us to remember him because he had the power to bring a smile to the faces of his family and friends.…
