BECOMING A TEACHER Page 2
I want to become a teacher because I, one day, ant to open up my own Day Care Center where I can teach and help the toddlers and babies learn and grow before they start in Pre- Kindergarten. I have always wanted to help younger kids ever since I had my son Anthony and my daughter Kaitlynn. I am having trouble finding a decent, inexpensive day care that I can enroll my children into. So, one day I decided, why tick them in day care when I can teach them things my self at home.

Extrinsic rewards are raises, promotions, bonuses and paid vacations. An extrinsic reward is usually given to you physically by someone for an accomplishment of something you had done. That type of reward is one that you would hang on your wall and show off to every person that walked through your front door. When you know you did something right and feel good and better about yourself, it is mainly because you know you accomplished something, whatever the accomplishment may be, but you do not physically receive a reward to hang up on your wall of your accomplishment. Teachers play a strong and vital role in the lives of twenty plus children in a community everyday of their lives. If you think about it, teachers play and active role in the children's lives just as much as the parents to, including sleep time. Teachers hope that parents are playing an active role in their children's education just like parents are hoping that the teachers are playing an active role out side of the school in the community, like fundraisers, games, whatever it may be, teachers should be part of it.

Teaching is said to be way more then just a vocation. It is said that teaching is a calling. You should always take your callings seriously because it could lead you into a new place, such as God. Teaching is most definitely my calling

I have chosen to become a teacher because I myself am a product of someone whom I consider to be the best teacher in the world. As a child in Virginia, I was inspired by a wonderful coach and teacher named Mr. Scott Nunnaly. Mr. Nunnaly taught me that any dream was possible. If I put my mind to accomplishing any goal I could make it happen. Mr. Nunnaly inspired me to be the best I could be at anything I wanted to be. Through my childhood…

I couldn't imagine life with out being in a school. They say I'm too shy to be a teacher, to depressed, and having social anxiety isn't going to help either. But I know that there is nothing else in this world that I would want, or could do, than to teach. I may not have a family member that has taught, I may not have all the intelligence, and I might not be much of a leader. But I have my own, just as important reasons.…

I want to be a teacher for several different reasons. I initially decided teaching was for me when I was in middle school. I had an amazing teacher that helped me through a lot. She made a huge impact on my life, and I knew then that I wanted to be able to do the same for other kids. I later went on to have children of my own, which gave me even more reason to become a teacher. And even with the economy the way it is today, there are actually a lot of opportunities for teaching given the wide variety of jobs a teaching degree can obtain. I also understand the responsibility that comes with teaching and that the job doesn’t end when you leave the classroom. That is why I respect the teaching field as much as I do. I know I still have a long way to go before I get to my teaching career but I feel it will all be worth it when I get there.…

When I was unfulfilled, working in the profession of social work, I decided that I would need to help others for my job. That was in 2007. I quit my job and did something that I had never done before. I started hiking the Appalachian Trail by myself. After thinking about what goals I had, it hit me: teaching. As a teacher you will influence youth to make a difference in their lives. That is when I thought about the example that my mother had been for students at her high school. When I was thinking about this back in 2007, I remembered that I hated my middle school experience. Then I thought maybe I could make a difference for some youth within the middle school setting. Finally, it all came together when I stopped hiking at a lake in New York, I have been working with youth from ages 11-18 for the past two years. I enjoy explaining new concepts to people so that they understand them, and I have had teachers around me all of my life. So that is when my hike ended. I went to visit relatives in New York for two weeks after I had decided to go back to Richmond, Virginia to look into options for teaching. Michelle Shearer said in her interview for teacher of the year, “what I love about teaching is at the end of every day I never have to wonder if what I do makes a difference” (Shearer, 2013). This is one question that I will not have to ask again because I believe teachers do make a huge difference in their student’s lives.…

I want to be an elementary school teacher for many reasons. I would have to say one of the primary reasons would have to be, it is a career I will always love to pursue. I have a great passion for working with young minds. I love seeing a child’s knowledge and abilities develop. I want to be a teacher, so I can help kids develop, learn and grow. Teaching is a great profession for me mainly because I want a career where I can give back and help my community. I want a vital role in the present to prepare the future. There is no better way to prepare for the future than to prepare the minds of the future. I want to get kids interested in learning, school, and cooperating. Cooperation is a huge beneficiary ability for human kind. Cooperation is something you have to adopt early in life to be successful. I believe I can be that teacher that helps kids adopt the ability and more so they can ease their way through school, and ultimately acheive their dreams. I believe I can accomplish this feat year after year, because I am a child at heart and I am flexible. Teaching is an extremely appealing career to me over all. It’s a job that never gets boring. It never gets easy either. I am always up to challenge. I know teaching is challenge because it’s important in society. There is not too many jobs that are more important to society than teaching. I want to be one of several teachers that rise to the occasion of everyday challenges. I accept and look forward to the challenges that the children will present me with. In turn with handling their challenges, I too will challenge my students to succeed. I wish to challenge and guide young minds not only for a career, but for a hobby, a passion and a life.…

I was not really inspired to be a teacher, just like Gingerlei Uili, I think that “teaching chose me.” (CCSSO, 2011b) Before my children were born I was a waitress and a bartender. Although I loved my job the hours were not good for a single mother. I decided to stop paying other people to watch my children. Taking a huge pay cut, I found a job that blessed my family. I took a job at a daycare as a lifeguard and after a short time became the Arts & Crafts director. Then when they needed a person to teach the half-day kindergarten, I filled that need. It turned out that I loved it and that I was great at it too!…

A good education is the gateway that can catapult us into a promising future of limitless possibilities. To obtain this depends on the types of educators/teachers a person encounters. Education is one of the most important aspects of our lives. The kind of education we all receive depend largely on the level of parental involvement we have at home combined with the teachers we have in schools. Teaching is something you have to be passionate about in order to be effective. Teachers have the very important responsibility of shaping the lives of young, impressionable children. With this responsibility comes great pride and joy; therefore, all teachers should strive to be “good teacher.” They can be defined as someone who always pushes…
