Teenagers are usually considered lazy, unhelpful and good for nothing and maybe they are, but if so, then Will Knight is the exception to rule them all. Will Knight is a member of a group of teenagers from the novel “S.T.O.R.M- The Black Sphere” by E.L Young that call themselves S.T.O.R.M and work to make the world a better place. Will is their leading member and an amazingly brave hero. Thus, Will Knight, who is brave, innovative and rebellious in a helpful way allowing him to be the leading member of S.T.O.R.M is clearly not your average teenager.
Some teenagers have many fears but Will Knight is not one of those teenagers. Instead, Will is immensely brave and without his outstanding bravery he wouldn’t …show more content…
have taken the lead during S.T.O.R.M’s many missions and he wouldn’t have put himself into many dangerous situations for the sake of the greater good. One of the many times that Will showed his immense bravery was when he decided to sneak into Investa in an attempt to find out more information about what had happened to Abigail Popes uncle (5). He knew that this would be a dangerous and scary trip but he also knew that it could potentially help Abigail Pope. Thus, he put aside his own fear to help others which is what true bravery is all about. Another instance where Will showed his immense bravery by putting aside his own fear to help others was when he decided to sneak into the black sphere to find more information about what the people working there were going to do with the oil rig and David Wickett. He knew that this would be a very dangerous mission and if he got caught he could be killed but he also knew that this could help protect Wickett and so even with all these risks he took his chances and went to the Black Sphere because he knew that it could help someone.
Although Will is the brave one of the group, his presence also serves another purpose.
That other purpose is the creation of amazing new technology and creative plans. How is a young teenager like Will Knight capable of this? Through the power of innovation! Wills innovative side is seen throughout the entire book but mainly through the creation of all his amazing spy gear which is then often used by him and the other members of S.T.O.R.M. For example Will created armor that he called “hard wear”. It was not normal armor though it was “made from seven thin layers of Kevlar.” And “some of the layers are impregnated with a liquid made of particles of silicon dioxide in a mix of ethylene glycol and ethanol. Normally, the liquid acts like a lubricant, so if you’re walking around in the armor it’s flexible and you can move easily. But if there’s an impact the fabric becomes hard like a shield.” () this is truly an innovative design that later becomes vital when Will is shot by a laser at the black sphere (21). Therefore Will is incredibly innovative and because of his amazingly innovative armor he managed to save his own life and that’s not something most teenagers can say they’ve done.
Most teenagers go through a rebellious phase at some point and it never leads to anything good but in Will Knight’s case some of his most important and useful discoveries come from his most rebellious moments. This is another thing that sets him apart from the average teenager. One time when Wills desire to resist authority was the result of a positive outcome was
