William Harvey was born on April 1, 1578. Just imagine the look of surprise on Tom Harvey’s face when Joan Harvey gave birth to their first of seven children. One would think he thought it was just some cruel April fool’s joke. But the two parents stayed together and gave William Harvey siblings Daniel Harvey; Eliab Harvey; Sarah Harvey; Thomas Harvey; Michael Harvey; Mathew Harvey; Amy Harvey; and even half sibling Juliana Cullen. With that many people in one house one would understand why William Harvey would suffer from insomnia or would be caught thinking in silence. Throughout his life, Harvey was reported to love darkness. This is good because if Harvey instead loved the light, he probably would not have been able to stomach the experiments which had led to his impressive blood circulation discovery. In the year of 1634, when Harvey worked as the King’s physician, he was used to examine women accused of witchcraft. However, due to his reports, the women were acquitted and allowed to return to their normal lives. Toward the beginning of the end of Harvey’s life, he returned to live with his brothers. He obviously loved his family so much, he was able to forget about his insomnia and his love of thinking in silence. Evidently, love seems to conquer all. During his stay, Harvey spent majority of his time reading literature. An impressive feat considering he lived with two grown men and their children. On June 3, 1657 in London England at the age of 79, William Harvey passed away in his brother Eliab’s house due to a cerebral hemorrhage. At this time, Harvey lost three brothers and his wife, so one could say that when he died, he was ready to great death with open arms.
