Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum is a classic tale filled with political ties and hidden messages. These massages have been passed throughout history and preserved in the book. The movie has managed to keep these themes in tact, not only that but enhance the symbolism. The conflict in this book, whether it be the actual political conflicts at the time or the imaginary focus that happens to be the climax of the book are very complex and deep.
The focus in the story may seem as easy as Dorothy vs. the wicked witch. But in reality it’s Dorothy against herself, it’s about Dorothy finding out she has a strength within herself and knowing that home is where her family is. It’s heavily pointed out throughout the movie, the first example about finding inner strength is when she meets all of her new friends. In the movie it’s clearly stating the scarecrow seeks brains and wisdom, the tin man is searching for a heart and the lion is attempting to find courage. It’s pointed out in many

When Dorothy misses the Balloon as it leaves Dorothy believes she may not ever return home again. When Glinda appears and tell Dorothy she had the power to go home the entire time Dorothy is shocked. Dorothy first had to learn that she had power within herself the entire time. regardless if she believes it herself.
To conclude, Wizard of OZ is a classic tale that has been around for a long time and will be around for plenty more. From its historical references to its deep rooted meanings, this tale is definitely a classic. Not to mention the message behind it that we all have a power within. That message is forever immortalized various times throughout the story. From all of the friends Dorothy meets along the way all up until the moment she learns she had the power to go home the whole time. Making this tale a definite
