In reality this is not the only way that a young female could get attention at high school. In reality, if a real world girl behaved like Olive behaved in the film girls would not become jealous or envy you at all, rather they would hate you and start to tall behind your back constantly. Even the males would not be drooling over you if you acted like Olive, even though it is represented that way in the movie.
The difference is that in our real world you are more likely to be judged and hated rather than loved and adored for presenting yourself in such a way that Olive did. In this representation its saying that to make friends and be popular you must pretend to be someone you're not, when in reality it is the opposite way around. You must be yourself to succeed in the real world. Olive just enjoyed the attention of being the school slut, but in reality this would never occur.
