Tranio, disguised as Lucentio, convinced her father to let him marry her. For that reason she can’t marry the real Lucentio without eloping. After they are married and the situation with Tranio is cleared up, Lucentio finds out that he didn’t actually married a fair maiden however he did marry a shrew.
In the beginning of Act One, Scene Two we can see that Hortensio is trying to convince Petruchio to marry Katherine so he would be able to marry Bianca. He is able to convince him, but in the end he didn’t end up marrying Bianca.
In the beginning of Act Four, Scene One we see that Hortensio and Lucentio are trying to educate Bianca and at the same time trying to win her over. We can also see that Bianca is slowly showing her true colours when her father isn’t around, but the gentlemen refuse to see it.
In the taming of the Shrew we can see that Bianca is being courted by three different suitors at the same time. But before one of them can marry her, her older sister had to be married.
