I personally experience workplace bullying for one year by my immediate supervisor who served as the Director of Business Services at the State facility I am employed with. She gave abuse of authority a whole new meaning. There use to be cliques at my job and those who were not in that segregated group were constantly subjected to curt and condescending remarks, unfair treatment, intimidation and plain lack of respect. Unfortunately, the bullying continued and went unpunished because of the personal friendship/relationship with the director of the facility at that time. To make matters worst, the facility director was also in a clique with the deputy director of the central office of the State agency. So any attempt to report the inappropriate bullying and ask for assistance was met with disregard and followed with consequences and repercussions. Oftentimes I felt like I was between a rock and a hard place. Although I began to document all instances of bullying, as a result of such a horrible environment, I started to seek employment elsewhere. The downside to a change of employer was I would be forced to drive 60 miles each day because of my preference to stay employed with the State of Mississippi (state agency job).
