One of the world’s biggest issue is world hunger. Cloning food would help produce a lot more food efficiently. Furthermore, Cloning would help solve a problem the has been around for centuries. Food cloning would enable organizations to produce food on a mass scale production. Although there
has been a lot of questioning whether the food is safe enough to eat, in 2007 the FDA has approved that cloned food is safe enough to eat (3). In addition to that scientists have been perfecting the process of cloning food for years(3).
Another positive aspect of cloning would be to help endangered species. One in four mammals are endangered(1). That has to do with climate change, pollution, and the loss of natural habitats. This is where cloning comes into play. For example a recovery of an endangered species of cattle was reported recently due to cloning. The animals that were cloned and survived lived to the expected age and died of natural causes. With an attempt of cross breeding animals, scientists began to explore the idea of cloning, embryonic cells so that the tissues could replace damaged tissue or organs(2). This was called therapeutic cloning and it helped deal with the problem of tissues or organs getting rejected when put into the body.
Despite having many pros many people feel cloning is horrible. Animals do often come out with mutations. Another reason is many consider cloning being “Playing God” While these things may be true. On the other hand, there are more pros than cons. Cloning can save lives and animals near extinction. Scientists and many people do believe cloning serves the greater good.
While many people have different takes on cloning I believe cloning is a positive thing. Cloning can help feed the hungry and save lives. In addition to that cloning can help save animals who are near extinction. Cloning has a lot more pros than cons. I hope to eventually see everyone accept cloning as a positive thing.
