Field because his pet goat was prohibited. Infuriated, Sianis incurred that the Cubs would never again win the World Series, until now, of course. This is not the only incident that has plagued Chicago-based baseball. There was also the ugly Steve Bartman incident, when a fan interfered with a foul ball, that ultimately was “the first domino” that caused the Cubs to crumble and lose the pennant. And several times, Sianis’s statement held true, as the Cubs would lose the big game three times. Moving on to the Cleveland Indians.
The Indians have also suffered somewhat of a drought, having not won a World Series since 1948. Of course, that’s not nearly as long as the Cubs’ drought. What is awful is the city’s football team, who have not yet won a game so far in the recent eight weeks of NFL football. They’ve rotated through three quarterbacks and have drafted five first round picks in the last fifteen years that would end up being total duds. And to top it all off, the Browns have been an organization for nearly eighty years, and still have not won a Super Bowl. They did win some championships before the Super Bowl was even a thought, but football was far less popular in those
times. The final determination is that the Cubs truly deserved it more. The Cleveland Browns may be one of the worst organizations in the National Football League, but that has nothing to do with baseball. The droughts in a side-to-side comparison are simply just a matter of which period of time is longer, and clearly, 108 years will always and forever be higher than 68 years. Cleveland fans are biased and will argue against it, rightfully, but the dispute itself is of no real significance, compared to the outcome of the game, or its jaw-dropping excitement.
