World Trade Center: A Perfect Example Of Those Who Hate America
What do you think of when the numbers, 1990’s are spoken? MTV? Internet? Clinton’s affairs? Great Economy? Or do you think about the hatred that people from other countries felt about us? The bombing of the World Trade Center is a perfect example of those who hate America and all we believe in. On February 26 1993, Ramzi Yousef, from Kuwait, drove a yellow Ryder into the parking garage of the nor building of the World Trade Center. When the bomb exploded, it was supposed to knock down the foundations of the north trade building making it crash into the south building. Fortunately, I he did not place it correctly and the bomb exploded, destroying the garage and cutting off the power to the entire building, trapping a group of kindergarteners
in an elevator. The smoke from the bomb, rose and trapped people in the upper floors. Luckily the bomb only killed 6 people. But caused severe smoke inhalation injuries to 1,042 people in the building, including the kindergarteners. Alicia Miller, my mother, had friends in the building at the time of the bombing. When she saw it on the news, she immediately called her friends, to find out that they were unharmed. They breathed some smoke but there was no damage to their bodies. “George Zee said that it felt like a giant earthquake just struck the building, then all the lights went out.” He just watched the kindergarteners get on the elevator, then seconds later, boom. After a short investigation, they found Yousef in the home of a relative. Following the arrest, there was a memorial for those six who died in the bombing. This incident caused fear in the hearts of many American’s. “Is this going to happen again? What are we going to do if it does? Why didn’t the government stop it?” Any terrorist attack on the United States is terrifying and devastating, whether it be, 9/11 or the bombing at the world trade center. The fear of the cold war and nuclear attack petrified Americans during the 80’s, but now a new threat has arrived… what would happen, if terrorists were able to acquire atomic bombs?
