She would not let the hectic family life and the time she lost with babies prevent her from achieving her dreams. Her first nove was a 55,000 word draft that she titled Deceitful Lover. She sent it to Mills and Boon in 1992 and unlike many authors she only got one rewrite request and had the book published on first try. In the same year, she also got her driving license though she has asserted that while getting published was exhilarating, the procedure for her license was an unmitigated nioghtmare. She went on to write many romance novels over the years under her real name of Helen VBrooks and then penned her latest novels as Rita Bradshaw from 1998. Since she became a full time author she has sen her life get transformed a lot. Having spent the majority of her adult life working as a secretary, shje could now give up her job and spend time with her husband Clive and write as much as she can.
