Writing Task With the way things are in this era I feel that the American Dream that was much talked about in the past can be achieved. For many people in the working class and the middle class, upward mobility is seen as the heart and soul of the so called American Dream.
The prospect of “betterment” and "improving one's lot" for one”s self and one's children most of which are what this country is all about. "Work hard, save a little, send the kids to college so they can do better than you did, and retire happily to a warmer climate" has been the script that all had been handed. In our time however the “American Dream” can be defined as social equality and heavy stress on wealth. However this wouldn’t be the true because the
“American Dream” that people know of is that hard work and perseverance can pay off in the end. With the social injustices that we face today such as police brutality towards African
Americans, like the Michael Brown case which led to the violent Ferguson Riots. Even with these things that happened the “American Dream” can and should still be available. Had the protesters not succumbed to their anger and kept protesting like MLK Jr. did and believed in which is nonviolent protest. Then all the lives lost during the Ferguson Riots could have been reduced heavily and the police officers who had done those horrendous acts would have been more subjected towards heavier punishments.
