After Rick and Morgan had parted ways, Ricks sets out to find his family and he did. His family was with a group of people camping out of a big city, the camp was no long safe so they had to set out to find a safer place to live. On the way to find a place to live the group runs into Tyreese and his teenage daughter and her boyfriend. Rick finds no problem with letting them into the group, as a result of seeing that he would be a good resource for the group. Lori, Rick’s wife, does not see it as a good thing, she sees it as threat to the group members. When Rick invites them in Lori states “You’re just inviting a stranger to sleep in the same room as us?” (Kirkman). Lori thinks that it is very dangerous to be letting this African-American man into the group. Lori is being completely racist because when this whole traveling group was forming, she did not no any of the members besides Shane who she was traveling with. Just because Tyreese is a big African-American man Lori is threatened by him. The longer that Tyreese is with the group and the more that he helps the group the more opened mind Lori gets about him. Lori is able to over come her racism for the better of the group. If Rick had let Tyreese stay in his and Lori’s home under any other circumstance, she would have made Rick kick him out but because they are all in survival mode they make expectations for people that they might not have made
