[insert school name] is not always percieved as one of the teams to beat, but it might be hard to find a school in the [state/county/province] with a winning spirit stronger than ours.

Behind every team there was a supportive coaching staff and cheerleaders that would always be by our side, and we were always lucky to have that.

Sports can unite a whole university together by giving all students a common interest as well as a sense of belonging to their school. An article from Chronicle of Higher Educated stated, “Sports teams can foster a deep sense of community and social solidarity, even when those teams lose more often than they win” (Clotfelter, 2010, p. 155).…

We were up twelve with the final quarter the only thing keeping us—Rocky River High School— away from the title of New Jersey State Basketball Champions. Our team had been favorites to win in three out of my fours years of starting as the high school shooting guard. Our previous seasons had ended in disappointment from our captain getting injured; to losing the last year in a pitiful fashion, not making it to the playoffs.…

Asking people of old generation which years were the most memorable and educational for them, most of them should mention years of high school. Years of transition from adolescence to adulthood, years of knowing oneself in the world, understanding their goals; this is the world of high school as it was many years ago, but not anymore. Nowadays,…

We didn’t beat Turpin but still had the opportunity to make a state run. But our season was cut short with a loss in our first round game. It is, in my opinion our mindset that lost us that game. We didn’t beat Turpin so our season meant nothing to us, which was why we lost.…

Everyone has the basic psychological need of belonging and purpose. I satisfied this need by supporting my school in the Warrior Stadium every game night. It was in that stadium where I would quench my thirsts for brotherhood and companionship. It was a place of refuge for me. I could escape from drama and peer conflict, into a bigger and broader conflict between rivalries older than myself. In the Oak Grove Stadium we could all join together in support of the team we loved and stand united against our challengers. Whether we won or lost we did so together as a community and school. It was there that I learned some of life's most valuable lessons. The Warrior…

I come from a small little town called Schuylerville but sports were still very important at my school. I was always a big part of that. Our school is mostly known for our field hockey team. When I was in seventh through ninth grade everyone talked about them. We had this awesome team that went undefeated for those three years. The leaders of this team were a boy and a girl (even more specific a brother and sister combination). Jared (an 8th grader in the beginning of this run) and Abby (who was in 10th grade) lead the team. It was amazing to go watch them play and you would see half of Schuylerville there cheering them on. In Schuylerville you were pretty well known if you played sports. No one will ever again get the treatment that Jared and the girls on that team got. Abby is now a senior for North Carolina and Jared is now on European traveling teams. Everyone in my town thinks that the streak ended because Jared was not allowed to play after a certain age or after his body mass became too strong for the high school girl's hockey league. I guess we will never know how much longer the streak would have been alive. For a little while, in this one small town, girl's sports actually got the recognition that it deserved.…

Bursting through the front doors of the school I stride out into the summer sun. The last day of school is cloudless and the sun shines brightly, warming my face and long chestnut hair blowing in the slight summer breeze. The breeze is chilly and the weather isn’t quite hot enough to feel like a real summer but that’s Seattle for you. Turning my new IPod to one of my favorite songs I start toward home, excited. For this is not just any last day of school, this is the last day of my junior year of high school. I am now officially, a senior. I had been dreaming about this summer for so long and I am determined to make it the best one of my life. I start sprinting home grinning till it hurts with Rabbit’s song “It’s Love” blaring…

One of my most memorable high school experiences took place in a football stadium an hour away from home in the middle of a corn field. It was my Junior year, a Friday night in the middle of October, and in true Ohio fashion, it was raining and barely above freezing. Members of the Spirit Spartans that year convinced my friends and I to attend. The game was incredible; it was back and forth all four quarters and all tied up with thirty seconds left in the game. With the clock running down, a Turpin receiver made a diving one-handed catch in the endzone to win the game. The stands went crazy and that excitement lasted all season, as the Spartans were undefeated in the regular season and lost only to future state champions in the tournament. I wholeheartedly believe that a vital part to the team's success was the student encouragement at games. As an athlete myself, a crowd of spirited classmates at a game can really ignite the team.…

    Essay On Midlothian

Here at Midlothian High School, sports are not taken lightly. In most sports, no matter the season, we dominate the 4A conference. This can be attributed to both our plethora of dedicated coaches, and a student body that is never willing to settle for less than greatness. Whether at a fall football game in sub freezing temperatures, or a humid night at the soccer stadium in the spring, one thing is for sure: the winning attitude at Midlothian is infectious.…

Hello, I am so honored to speak in front of all the parents, staff and my fellow students today. Wow guys we made it! These past 3 years have been full of so many memories that I know we’ll never forget. Think all the way back to 6th grade we were always the littlest ones and I remember feeling like a fish out of water. We were terrified of getting lost or being late for class, but excited to have a locker to decorate and change classes each period. It doesn’t seem like that was over 2 years ago at all. We came back in 7th grade, much more confident than the year before. We looked down to the new 6th graders, asking "Were we really that short just last year?" And by the end of 7th grade I was shocked that I was officially an 8th grader. 8th grade is defiantly my favorite year. I feel like I have everything under control. But next year is full of changes. We'll have free periods, more homework, electives, and an open campus. The new choices also bring new responsibilities that test us in figuring out how we grow from kids to adults. As we say goodbye on the last day we sit together as Balboa students, we reflect on what has happened the past 3 years, but also look forward to what is coming up in the next 4 years. My advice to future 8th graders is to keep up with your school work and try your absolute best and make lots of good, loyal friends that don’t get you in the bad kind of crowd. And most importantly, have fun! This is the last year you will be the oldest in the school for another 4 years, so enjoy it! I’d like to finish this speech off with this quote : A creative man is motivated by the desire to achieve, not by the desire to beat others.-Ayn Rand…

I came from a pretty sports oriented high school, sports were very important at my school even more than academics sometimes. I was always a big part of that. Our school is mostly known for our girl’s basketball team and boy’s basketball team. When I was in seventh through ninth grade everyone talked about us. We had these awesome teams that went undefeated for three years. Both teams went on to win the GMC division titles. So many people came to my high school for basketball after those years because everyone wanted to win and if you came to CMHS you probably would win. This streak continued until the coach of the boy’s basketball team passed away. Both teams were so close that this affected both teams equally; I remember how going to practice…
