My early life has revolved around sports. Though, as I continue to grow, I do realize the world has more to offer to me than these games, but one cannot undermine the values sports teach children and students alike. Coming into my senior year, I had never played a high school sport in the fall. This season was usually my preparation period, where I focused on gaining weight and muscle for basketball season. When our arch rivals James River entered our home gym on the evening of our senior night ceremony and last regular season game, I broke out. The team was demoralized after getting down 2-0 - but with the leadership of our captain and the play of myself, we pulled off a comeback for the ages. After hitting the game winning shot, my teammates and I stormed center court where we celebrated our great achievement. I had the game of my life. The feeling of seeing my hard work pay off in front of everyone who had supported us throughout the season was surreal. Trying things unfamiliar to ourselves may sometimes be hard, but the formula never fails. I have learned almost every try something new, you leave having a positive time, or if nothing else, a new perspective to reflect on. I will continue to pursue things unfamiliar to me, and look forward to seeing all of the opportunities they come
