Exposition:
April, a 16 year-old high school junior, is the only child of a middle-class family that values education and sports. She lives a busy life of going to school in the morning and practicing volleyball afterwards. She never gets any free time to herself or to just hangout with her friends. When she’s not playing volleyball she’s studying. When she’s not studying she’s practicing. Because of these reasons, April is very stressed. She feels pressured to do well in school and volleyball.
Begins with… (Problem)
Rising Action: April had come into math class very sleepy. She didn’t get any sleep last night because volleyball practice ran a little late and she had to stay up all night to finish homework. She has been very stress lately. To top off her day, as she sat down her teacher, Ms. Becker asked April to see her after class. April did not know why. After class Ms. Becker had told her that lately she noticed that April wasn’t paying attention in class recently and on the last test she had got her first ‘F’ ever. April had told Ms. Becker that she has just been very stress lately and she feels a lot of pressure. Ms. Becker then sent her to the guidance counselor to talk about it.

Turning Point: After a long discussion with the guidance counselor about the stress that April is going through they have decided that they are going to tell April’s parents. April and her parents have decided that she should stay focus on school and not do volleyball for a couple months.
