William was a great leader of England, his power and intelligence were just what the people needed. He brought many new systems and regimes, which was better for the people. William may not have been the most generous king, though he made England a better, safer place to live in. When a king can make the country’s standards of living better he’s defiantly a good king.
William introduced Feudalism into the society of England. People received a grant of land in order for them to work and they must swear to alliance to the king. This system was new for the people though defiantly an improvement. Thanks to Feudalism everyone was promised protection, land and food. Feudalism, gave a structure to society that had never been there before. Feudalism gave the William more power, meaning he could run the country even better.
The Domesday Book is a grand event in English History. William wanted to know how rich his land was, he sent out clerks to his entire kingdom to find out what everyone owned. With the information he gathered he could calculate how much tax everyone would have to pay. Through the information on the Domesday Book William could do many great things for England; he was able to make England a safer, more powerful empire.
From taxes, William was able to build his city, making it greater. William has built some of the greatest castles ever. The castles he built were used for his own leisure and for civilian protection. During battle he would hold safe hold for the people in these castles. Though thanks to the castles William look more threatening; there’s a huge reason to believe there were less attacks and uprising just because of the castles. The castles gave everyone a sense of security, the people knew they were part of a great country, lead by a great ruler.
What impressed most people about king William is he cared for his people. When William died he left a lot of money in the name of his country. William
