Year Around School
Persuasive essay
The last bell rings and kids run out of their classroom for the last time that year. Most of them are going to spend the summer outside, traveling and having a great time with their family and friends. But some kids from other schools are going to be staying in school spending the warm sunny summer days indoors learning, and that's because they attend a year around school. All schools should stay on a normal schedule because year around school affects the relaxation of the student, quality time a child can spend with their family and because year around schools have not shown improvement in the student's test results.
Summer is a very important time for every child. Not only are summers fun and relaxing but they can also be very educational. During the summer kids usually, travel, stay at home or go to summer camps. In each of those scenarios kids will be able to learn from things that are all around them, they will be learning about the things that surround them like plants and animals, developing friendships or learning important life skills that they would not be able to

Most of the year around schools run on the 45/15 school systems. The system just means that a child will have 45 days of learning followed by 15 days off. And since there is going to be many first and last days of school it might have a negative effect on the children learning. It has been proven that in most of the cases the student academic results have not changed from before and after all year school. Then there is always the extra cost that comes in making your school be all year long. Because it's the summer and its hot outside schools will have to cool down the school with a and that will const them a lot of extra money. Plus the extra money you will have to pay the teacher for them to be willing to work over the summer. That is why 95% of the school that have switched from standard schooling to the year around schooling have switched

What are some cons for public schools to change the school to an all year round school? Educators shouldn’t make the school an all year round school because the students will get less time to be with their families, less time with their outside school activities, and also more time in school would be harder for the students to pay attention.…

Child care is one of the major issues. Children in year-round school have more frequent breaks and parents do not get time off from work to be with them. Therefore, those parents who have young children have to find a sitter or daycare to watch their child. Another disadvantage is that it may cost the school more money to operate year-round. For example, most school corporations end around May and resume around August, those months the air-conditioner is not being used. Year-round schooling would be in session during those months where the temperatures are increased, causing the school to run the air-conditioner more…

The traditional schedule for school is outdated because in the old days, it allowed for children to help harvest crops during the summer. Now, the long summer just enables kids to be lazy and easily forget what they learned at the end of the previous school year. If a year round school year were to be implemented, kids would not be able to be as lazy and breaks would not be so long as to let kids forget a whole bunch of their school curriculum.…

Year round schools is a good idea because students will be able to retain the information they learned at school. On the other hand it would interfere with the students long deserve break. Some students work their butts off in school so they could get good grades in the end of the school year. So summer break would help them recuperate or give them a chance to do summer jobs to earn some money. Having year long schools wouldn’t just affect the students, it would also affect family trips.…

Year round school can decrease the number of theft at school by having the building be occupied for all of the year (cde.ca.gov). “With less theft, the school would feel like a safer place to be in for students. Parents would feel better about sending their children to school if it is a friendlier place.” Year round school can stop some of the bullying and vandalism in schools (cde.ca.gov).With less vandalism and bullying, schools would be able to do more things and the school would feel safer. With less people who go to school who want to make the school environment worse, there would be a high school academic achievement average. One of the major benefits of year-round school is that it aids students in a way that they can increase their overall grade. Students are less likely to forget what they have previously learned in school due to the lack of large breaks in the school year. Most importantly, there is more time. More time for school means more time can be devoted to each unit or section of material a teacher is covering. Less pressure to learn information in two weeks or even a month can help students apply their new knowledge to the long-term memory and gives more time for student to comprehend ideas in a more complex manor.…

There are many approaches that might interest you about year-round schools, but here are three that I find interesting. The first fact about year-round school is that they have short breaks every so often. In the article Year Round School vs. Traditional Schedules in Public Schools it states, “...many schools are getting rid of the traditional summer vacation, yet are simultaneously providing students with more frequent and consistent breaks from school.” Since the traditional summer vacation of around 3 months is no longer essential some experts are saying that the traditional schools are not what is best for today’s children. The second fact about year-round school is that they have schedules that may very slightly. In the article it states, “...the most popular schedule is what’s called a 45-15 plan…”. Which means that children go to school for 45 days and then have 15 days off. The last fact about year-round school is that many states and places have taken part in the year-round…

If we have school all year round kids will be learning 3 extra months of knowledge and more is better. Kids will be smarter and when applying to highschool and college they will be more likely to succeed , and every parent wants to see their child succeed in life. As soon as school lets out for Summer break, students forget everything they learn and care more about who can make the biggest cannonball, and eventually all that knowledge will just fall down the drain, having school all year round at QMS means no more knowledge wasted.…

It may sound logical but Dr Von Hippel has debunked this myth after completing an experiment. He states, “Students in “year-round” schools don't learn more than their peers in traditional nine-month schools... A sociologist at Ohio State University found that, over a full year, math and reading test scores improved about the same amount for children in year-round schools as they did for students whose schools followed a traditional nine-month calendar.” There's no academic improvement and on top of that many people believe that year round school is longer than a normal school which is also false. They have the same amount of days as a traditional nine-month high school however Instead they have “tracks”. So track 1 could have school for 3 weeks then they would have vacation for 3 weeks while track 2 has 3 weeks of school after coming back from vacation. This also limits who is seen by who every day if two people’s schedules do not cross. Public students should be given what's best for them. If year-round has no academic improvement then why should summer be taken away? At least summer benefits students with nutrients from the…

Students are best served in a traditional school system. Just imagine what it would be like to have to go to school in the middle of what would be a traditional year round summer vacation. That is a reality for thousands of kids across the United States. This is why I believe that the traditional school system is more beneficial than a year round system. Year round schools have disruptive schedules, the day amounts end up being the same in year round and traditional school and, year round schools cost more to maintain and run year round.…
