Throughout the tournament, Yuugi and his friends encountered countless strong, yet suspicious characters, many of which who tried to kill him and his friends. No matter how difficult his opponents were, Yuugi refused to falter and always kept his cool. In one particular duel, his friend Anzu was taken hostage and he was forced to duel Jounouchi, with the threat of an anchor dragging the loser down to the bottom of the ocean.
