Zella Day Narrative
I leaned toward the window where my pillow was pressed against the car door. I watched the lightning a few miles to away from the car as it lit up the mountains. Compass by Zella Day played through my headphones as I sat up to look through the windshield. I took my headphones out and my friend/cousin, Amaya, sat up excitedly in her seat. It was the first time she’d ever taken this trip. The city lights below sparkled. Amaya’s mom, JoAnn, and our uncle Bill played songs from “their time” as we drove down toward Las Vegas. We drove to the front of the Westgate Hotel, our grandma (gma), grandpa (papa), and Tia in the car behind us following closely. We grabbed our bags and walked through the doors as valet parked the cars. A wall of cigaret smoke met us inside, drifting up from the casino straight ahead. There were people everywhere, their voices filling the extravagant room. The floor was white and looked like marble. The lights made the room look even bigger. We walked over to the elevators and took one up to the 16th floor, where we all were staying in separate rooms. …show more content…
Amaya and I went on the elevator in the back of the hotel. It was an elevator where you could see outside as you rode up or down. We stood with our backs faced to the door as we rose toward the very top floor, admiring the view. It was the middle of the night and all of the lights below us were lit up and shining. We wandered the hallways (believing it was haunted at some points, but that’s a whole different story) and ended up down on the third floor. We went out to the pool area, although we couldn’t get in because it was closed. The hot midnight air enclosed us as we sat next to a fountain that had a cup shaped statue that was lit with fire inside. It lit up the area around us and the water that we sat next to. It was a beautiful night, but sad. We really didn’t want to

Hedge animals have moved, the elevator that started with the sound of people talking about a party, the blood on the wall, and the lady in room 217 who sleeps in the tub. It had been noted that a lot of colorful people have indeed stayed at this hotel before. There were mafia, drug dealers, and so on and so forth. It would not be a surprised if someone had died here before. Both Jack and Danny have seen the hedge animals move at different times. They never actually see them more, but when they look over they are closer. The lady in the tub was seen by Danny, when he went in there after Hallorann told him not to. She was the only thing that physically was able to grab him with a grimace. “Still grinning, her hug marble eyes fixed on him, she was sitting up (King 320)”. My evaluation is that the hotel is haunted. That is obvious, though it seems like there are only a few spirits, or ghosts, that are bent on hurting them. Some, like the people at the party, just don’t mind them at all.…

Cruising on back roads there’s nothing in sight. No gas stations or any houses for that matter. You could hear the tops popping off a fresh beverage, and with that sound we knew our weekend had begun. Pandora had us crushing lyrics to every song on the playlist. With every sip you felt a rush of adrenalin pumping through your body like the bass coming from the speakers. Winding and twisting through the hills we creep closer and closer to our destination; Bear Kats, Lesterville Mo, a small town know for nothing more than its nice river accesses and great camping sites. A parade of cars filed into town, some pulling into the only liqueur store while others continued down the road. We hit the station meeting up with a few friends. We followed them down the last dirt road we say our prayers for a safe trip and a fun- filled weekend we would never forget.…

The outside was white with bricks showing through suggesting the building had probably been there some time. The lobby was several shades of brown except an out of place brightly multicolored cabinet that was in the corner. I was reminded of old books and newspapers as the lobby seemed to be made out of dust in the best way possible and it smelled like warm cinnamon. A sign on the wall offered apartments and hotel rooms. Despite the wooden vacancy sign hung outside, no one came out to greet us in the fifteen or so minutes we waited. We eventually called it and took off down the road. As we walked farther down Wright street and tried to avoid the small amounts of traffic we came across a few abandoned buildings, a photographer’s dream. Cracks and crevasses ran up and down the walls and vines crept up the sides of the buildings, wound their way through the cracks and and bursting through the windows that had been boarded up with wood that had begun to rot. My curiosity was peaked and it took a lot of self control to not find a way in to further explore the buildings but through the remaining dirty windows I could see a lot of old wood and what looked like trash on the floor. The building on the end was especially peculiar for it had the remnants of some poster that had been hung there once upon a time but now all that’s left are some eyes. They seemed to watch you wherever you went and they reminded me of the eyes of Doctor…

It seemed like I was wandering into a different dimension. My senses were becoming acquainted to new feelings: guttural whispers, excruciating odour, ponderous glass-like air and the cemented, pungent, taste of death! As I opened the door candlelight rose to greet me but who lit them? I was informed that the secluded house I was purchasing has been unoccupied forever.…

After Amber’s wedding, Emmett and I decided to take some time off of work and return to Bora Bora. We spent more than a month revisiting all of the tourist destinations we had once visited years prior. I was so surprised to see all of the changes to our favorite spots. It made me think about how much I have changed in all these years. I had been given a wonderful man, three beautiful blessings, and my dream. It felt like everything had been fit into place over all of these…

As soon as she pulled onto the highway, the lightning flashed across the sky and she knew it would start raining soon. Ruth was unfamiliar with the curvy roads, and slowed down when the rain started forming a lake on the road in front of her, making it difficult for her to see the lines on the highway. Dark clouds hung slightly above the road and the sounds of rain beating against the car bothered her. “Perhaps I shouldn’t have chosen this day to ghost hunting,” she said as the inside windows fogged over, turning on the defroster she calmed down and sang along with the radio.…

Until this school year my family and I lived, as I like to put it, on the other side of the world, by Ryan Airfield, south of Old Tucson. Every school day there was a 50 minute drive in front of me that stretch over a mountain pass and more than half a city. However, it did provide great quiet time. Time just to recap what happened that day, time to plan out the rest of the day, daydream. One overcast day, my mom and I were going home in our good ole’ reliable Passat. We had come up through the mountain pass listening to instrumental music, something I have enjoyed listening to all my life. Instrumental music always lifts my spirits because of the pure melody, of all different types of instruments coming together to make a blissful resonance. After the mountain pass, the terrain spans out before us in a somewhat flat valley, which leads into another range of even higher mountains. We rode smoothly across a stretch of this and the music was epic. I do not remember that exact piece of music that was playing, but it had a cello, violin, piano, and drums. The type of music that gives the feeling like there is something in life you must do, a battle that must be conquered, a quest that must be fulfilled. The sunset ahead of us was trying to pierce vibrant colors through a gray curtain of clouds. Some clouds rested on a mountain for a moment while others struck down at the earth with lightning bolts. These flashes of light synchronized with the beat of the music. The moment was one of many things: shock, awe, exuberance, joy, thrill, wonder, and so on. The main thought that raced through my head was “This is amazing God. You planned this! You…

My life sounds like a lot of things, the sound of my kitten making strange noises because she doesn’t meow, the sound of my brothers chasing each other up the stairs, and the sound of my entire family having dinner at my house for a special occasion. But, those aren’t the only sounds. I have grown up in a household where music has always existed. In every car ride there was always music. That's what I remember most about my childhood, is the music that we listened too. There were memories that had nothing to do with them of course, but there are many small memories that are centered around a certain song that we'd all dance and sing to. The song itself isn't what's special, it's the memories that go along with it.…

We were almost through the state of North Carolina as we traveled on Interstate 95. It was rush hour and you could tell everyone was antsy and excited to get home. Cars traveled at 80 miles per hour, and some were even traveling faster than that. I could now see why it was ranked the fifth worst highway in North America. Cars were weaving in and out of traffic at over 90 miles per hour. Traffic was getting heavy. Listening to the radio, my dad and I sang along to a familiar song we both knew, “Yeah” by Usher. “Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!”, we both sang while he drove. My dad always loved this song, so we had the radio turned almost all the way up. The song ended and we turned the radio down. We had already been on the road for ten hours so we were beginning to get a little tired. It was almost 5:00 in the evening and we did not eat lunch, so we were both getting hungry as well. “Where do you want to stop for dinner?”, I asked him. My dad looked at the food signs next to the highway as I looked up places on my phone where we could grab a bite. Just as I was about to name off a few places where we could go, my phone flew out of my hand and my head jolted forward.…

One very long month later, everyone's bags were packed and we was off to Tennessee! After five lengthy hours and passing through a time zone, I spotted the breathtaking view of Nashville. As we entered our hotels parking lot, I got out of the car and stared in awe of all the bright colorful lights and building against the dark night sky. It was stunning. My family and I walked into the hotel to be greeted by a welcoming smile from the lady behind the desk. We got our room keys and went to out room. It was decorated with pictures of guitars and a warm welcoming goldish yellow wallpaper. Although it was already nine o'clock, our night had just began.…

On the Friday night that we were there, the town of Villisca was deserted. The stadium lights in the distance lured us to them. The whole population of just over one thousand was at their high school football game. When my Father, Alex, and I sat down, the looks we received made it obvious that we did not belong. It was getting pretty dark, which was the last excuse we needed to leave the game and return to the house.…

I then left my hotel room and started to explore the hotel. I was on the top floor of the hotel so I took an elevator down to the lobby area. I woke up in the middle of the night to a whistling sound. I sat up and looked around, it was 2:00 in the morning. Suddenly, a book fell off of a nearby shelf all by itself. I quickly got up and went to find Viviane. It appears she is having the same ghostly experiences that I had. We wanted to get out of this creepy house, so we ran to the verandah. When we got there we saw a strand of beads hanging on the railing. I snatched them up and they began to glow. All of the sudden, we were both picked up by two ghosts, that were both women. They hovered in the air for a minute then took off, carrying us through the skies. We came to what looked like another plantation, and they dropped us in a grass clearing, and disappeared. We were so tired; we lay down and fell asleep before we could explore our new…
