Zoochosis Disease

Did you know animals who live in zoos may develop a disease called Zoochosis. They are also held in terrible captivity.Lastly they re not getting enough exercise.
Animals are getting held in terrible I watched a video about a 32 year old chimpanzee named Iris in a Zoo called Chestatee Wildlife Preserve and zoo in Georgia. She was held alone in a tiny, barren and dark cell. She had nothing to do or see and no companionship.Iris spent much of her time under a dirty blanket in her cell.
Zoochosis is a disease that can cause Bar Biting, Neck Twisting, Tongue Playing, Excessive Grooming,Head Bobbing, Coprophagia, Swaying/Pacing/Circling Excessive Grooming, Vomiting and Self Mutilation. In a 2001 study of 257 captive Giraffe and Okapi in 49 US institutions, it was found that 80% exhibited some form of stereotypic behavior. Causes are Separation from natural habitat, Enforced idleness, Direct control by humans, Loss of life in normal social groups, Drugs and medical fertility control and Caging - a totally alien environment.
Scientists also blamed high stress levels, which the animals suffer most after being transferred between zoos and being separated from their mothers.
