In Laboratory Medicine, evaluation of Complete Blood Count is essential to determine the patient’s health. Obtaining blood sample is done by different blood collection techniques, specifically, the venipuncture and the fingerstick method. Venipuncture is achieved by inserting a hypodermic needle to the median cephalic vein to obtain venous blood while pricking the fingertips with a sterile lancet with capillary tubes to obtain capillary blood does fingerstick method. Some other says that venipuncture and fingerstick method has a significant difference. In terms of pain, fingerstick method is most preferred since the procedure is quick thus making it painless than venipuncture. In the evaluation of accuracy, some medical scientists would say that venipuncture is more accurate than the fingerstick method since the blood obtained from the procedure circulates throughout the whole body. Although Medical Technology students do not like to believe it, venipuncture procedure is better and more preferred than fingerstick method as blood collection technique for complete blood count evaluation because it is accurate in giving out result. This paper presents the discussion and comparison between blood collection techniques in five parts. The first part provides a brief overview of the blood collection technique. The second mentions a brief description of the complete blood count. The third cites the different blood collection techniques with its methodology. The fourth cites the comparative analysis of the two blood collection techniques. The final part presents the survey with the Medical Technology students regarding their point of view of the different blood collection techniques. Blood collection or bloodletting is the withdrawal of often small quantities of blood from a patient to cure or prevent illness and disease. Bloodletting was based
