1. What led Lt. Dan Kaffee to plead not guilty for the two accused marines? Even though Lt. Dan Kaffee has no experience in trial court and always plea his cases out, he was convince that there is something not right about the case of two marines that was accused of murder. With the help of other co-lawyer, Lt. Commander Jo Galloway and Lt. j.g. Sam Weinberg, they find proof about their suspicion. They believe that the two accused marines did not intentionally killed Pfc. William T. Santiago, but they are just following orders. Lt. Dan Kaffee believes that Lt. Col. Nathan Jessup gave an order of “Code Red” to Pfc. Santiago. The “Code Red” is basically a type of hazing which is not legal and is not officially written in their rule book. Lt. Dan Kaffee and his team believe that this code red is the reason why Pfc. Santiago died. Lt. Dan Kaffee also believes that the one who gives this order is Lt. Col. Nathat Jessup and he plans to make Lt. Col. Jessup to admit this fact in order to lift the guilty plea of two accused marines.
2. Why do we need fairness and justice in society? We need fairness and justice in the society in order to have an equal and peaceful living. Equality will be at present if everyone in the society will practice fairness. Nowadays, people tend to go sides where they can get benefits. An example of this is that some people are playing safe, in a way that they tend to take a side in order to avoid being punished or to lose. They bias if they see something is benefitting in the other side. Having justice in the society is very important in order to state the truth. Many people are seeking for justice and they are having a hard time achieving it. There are people who are accused from something they didn’t do yet they are still treated like are guilty from the cases filed to them.
