A Hero: Tim Tebow
Ask yourself. What is a hero? Is it someone who is tough, noble, and admired for good qualities? Or is it a chief mail character in a movie, book, or play that is identified with several desirable qualities? Does age, race, or gender help define a hero? I’m sure most people will have different answers for the questions above. They were all based on your opinion, which may be different from another person’s. My opinion is a hero is anyone that is looked up to, or anyone that can be depended on. I don’t believe age, race, or gender matter when defining a heroic figure.
When you think about a hero, who is the first person to pop into your mind? Maybe it’s a friend, family member, professional athlete, actor, or musician. The first person that comes to my mind is a professional athlete, Tim Tebow. Ever since I watched him play for Florida through the television when he was in college I have looked up to him. He has inspired me in more ways than one. He is an excellent Christian role model for kids, as well as adults. He has given everyone multiple reasons to look up to him, and doesn’t do it for publicity either. I think he maintains his Christian attitude on and off the field to honor the Lord, as well as his family.
Tim was born in the Philippines while his parents were visiting as Baptist missionaries. He is the youngest of five students, all of which were homeschooled by their mother who worked to instill Christian beliefs along the way. He played football in a public high school, and later moved on to attend college at the University of Florida as a quarterback. For one game, Tebow decided to put eye black under his eyes. This is normal for plenty of collegiate athletes, but there was something different about Tebow’s eye black. His had a bible verse written on them. The first time it was John 3:16. After the game, tremendous amounts of people googled the bible verse. That means that many more people came to learn a little more about God and Christianity. Tim

His religious beliefs are the center of a lot of the attention. Yes of course you see athletes praying during games, wearing crosses, crossing themselves, thanking God or what have you but never, at least in recent memory has such an athlete with such a zealous belief taken the sports world by storm. Tebow is never seen with out some biblical inscription under his eyes during games, you wont see him complete a huge play, score a touchdown or win a game with out dropping to a knee to pray. He has his own following because of this, the famous “tebowing”. He is clearly proud of his religion and thankful because of it, he’s not shy about it, appearing in a religious based ad with his mother.…

Throughout history, there have been an incalculable number of heroes; that can be through reality or fictitious. From viewing the clips from this assignments and reading various articles regarding heroism, there are multiple aspects that determine exactly what a hero should be. In regards to the Spiderman video, Aunt May explains that a hero is someone that is courageous, self-sacrificing, and sets examples for others. Likewise, an article I read describes a hero as someone who is courageous, selfless, humble, patient, and caring. In my opinion, a hero is an individual who cares more about the life of others than themselves; they would do anything in their power to protect others as well as the world around them.…

Three people that inspire me or made me want to make a difference in the world are Malcolm X, Martin Luther King Jr. , and Rosa Parks. They are my heros because they done things that they believe in and that they thought were fair because they wanted to make sure everyone had rights to do whatever they want whenever they wanted to do it. Many people dream of playing a professional sport, but not many people would give up that dream to go into the military. Pat Tillman was a football star from Arizona State University and later the Arizona Cardinals. In 2002, Tillman put his NFL career on hold and enlisted in the U.S. Army to become an ranger along with his brother. With this choice, Tillman received a lot of attention from the media, but was humble and did not want to make it a big story. When his coach, Dave McGinnis, from the Arizona Cardinals was asked he answered, “Pat knew his purpose in life. Tillman proudly walked away from a career in football to a greater calling” ("Pat Tillman Foundation”). Through his selflessness, determination, and humbleness, Pat Tillman went from being a NFL star to a respected Army Ranger to finally after his tragic death one of the America’s greatest heroes.…

The definition of hero varies among people but, in my definition of a Hero is a person who is able to achieve the difficult task regardless of the resistance of society or sacrificing themselves in risky situations. A hero is not a person who is easily scared, gives up easily and selfish. In my opinion, when people are described as “hero” we neglect their bad behaviors, but this doesn’t imply to every hero we should be aware of such things because we all have our own flaws.…

What is a hero? A hero to me is a person who is brave, has a bunch of courage and knows right from wrong. You don’t have to have a mask or a suit to be a hero. A hero is willing to help a person at anytime. A hero can kill their enemy with kindness. For an example I believe Jackie Robinson is an incredible, life changing hero. He had been the first African American to play in the Major League Baseball. He had played for the Brooklyn Dodgers. They played him and they had ended racial segregation.…

Heroism can only truly be defined subjectively. Every single one of us can discover courageous qualities within any individual: it all depends on which endeavors a person finds heroic. In my opinion, a hero is someone who displays bravery or self sacrifice in the face of misfortune. They are not afraid to intervene and rectify what they see is wrong, despite the situation. Challenges may be confronted along the way, but a hero will arrive stronger than before. They will finish by attempting to or fully producing a positive impact on society. My personal role model is Elizabeth Cady Stanton, a leader of the women’s rights movement during the 19th century. She is someone who manifested all of these heroic traits by combatting the sexist ideas people had during this era. Throughout the course of her life, she shattered the expectations…
