A Holiday Problem! - Short Story for English Classes
A Holiday Problem!

Now I can say that the trip to Australia was the biggest mistake that I've ever made. It began so innocently - just me, my luggage and a little white ticket for a plane... The first setback was that I couldn't find keys to my house. I was searching them for about fifteen minutes. It was 3:45. My plane was to depart at 4 o'clock. I was driving as fast as I could and luckily I wasn't late. When I saw my seat I was disappointed and really upset. I was to sit next to the man who was looking and behaving like a pig! I don't smoke so I chose the seat in a non-smoking compartment... But some people were smoking next to the doors between those two areas. The smoke from cigarettes was irritating my poor eyes! But this was just the beginning. The real nightmare started when I was at the airport in Australia. I was crying because somebody probably stole my luggage! It was my suitcase where I had everything I needed. When I was walking around the airport I understood that I lost my bag with my passport. Then I had to stay at the airport! I couldn't go to my hotel and (what was the worst) I couldn't even go back home! Luckily my luggage turned out to be mistakenly taken by the women whose suitcase was the same as mine. But I was still without the passport. The airport security instructed me to stay at one place during looking for my bag by their people. But I had to go to the toilet! When I was in the bathroom I locked up in one of the cabins and I couldn't get out. I was screaming and hitting the door and nothing happened. After twenty minutes the old cleaning lady heard me and helped me to open the cabin. I was so stressed. I was waiting at the airport for almost 2 hours before the stewardess from my plane called to me and said that I left my bag on my seat! I felt so stupid when she appeared and gave me my bag with documents and everything. What a shame! I promise that I won't travel by plane

Each time I go to the airport, I get a kick out of the whole process that we abide by. You go to the airport and check in and all that baloney, until you get to the exciting part! First we have to show a random worker our passport, and that’s where they look at the passport and look back at the picture about two or three times to confirm that our facial features are similar! Our passports and I.D.’s get checked more often then a fifteen-year old at a bar! We then wait…

I’d gone to Australia on a whim, a road trip to Key West at a mere suggestion, which if I discounted my arrest one drunken night was well worth the thirteen hour drive there then the thirteen hour drive back, I’d figured I could simply go to Denver to see what I could see.…

I woke up tired on a beautiful, sunny, Tuesday morning. It was the day I had to fly to San Francisco for my job on a cruise ship. I had been in between cruises, so I had taken the chance to come see my parents in Newark, New Jersey. Later I realized that it could have cost me dearly. I changed into my pressed, white, long sleeved shirt with khaki pants and my sailors hat that I had to wear for my job as a deckhand. I arrive at Newark Liberty International Airport a hour before my flight, where I hug my parents goodbye. I walk in and go through security easily and go to my gate and wait for thirty minutes until we would be able to board.…

Over 81 percent of Americans celebrate Christmas. This illustrates how the majority of Americans, including myself, love Christmas. As a child, I always looked forward to the gifts, but as I matured, I learned that there is more to Christmas than gifts. The cheerful people, amazing baked goods, and Christmas songs makes the holiday of Christmas what I look forward to every year.…

For many people. the months December through February create a vision of happiness and holiday cheer. The thought of all the warm Christmas cookies you and your mom would make, or the pine sweet smell of your just brought home tree, you, already prepared with your basket of ornaments, dusty from being in your basement all year long. The hope of a new year, of new beginnings, of fresh snow, and coming inside from the cold to sit by the burning fire with your favorite book. Thinking of these months can stir up a great deal of memories, and for many, these memories are wonderful. For myself, they always have been. December was a symbol of happiness for me. My family would travel to come to St. Louis, we would routinely follow Christmas traditions from years before, and love was widely spread. However, last December morphed this tremendous enjoyment I got out of these winter months.…

When I was young I always dreamed of flying on a plane. Finally, my dream was coming true, and I was on my way to the USA where I had always known I would end up. This was my first trip on an airplane, and it was also one of the most memorable experiences of my life. I remember everything about my first flight, and it was a lot to remember since it took twenty-seven hours from start to finish. The fight did have one stop in Japan, but that was just to change planes. Once my parents and I got onto the plane and sat down, I started to look at everything around me. I noticed the small white air vents right above my head with little lights next to the vent. It was so great because the controls were right on my armrest. There was a place on the armrest to plug the headphones in in order to listen to music or watch a movie. After everyone got settled into their seats, the airhostess came over the intercom and explained all of the safety procedures. But I am going to tell you; I couldn’t understand what they say, besides staring at their body language. They also showed everyone how to put the seat belts on correctly. After the airhostess was done with…
