Advertisement Image Analysis Essay Example
During the half time show of the super bowl in 2007, I watched a great ad. This ad depicts two auto mechanics working on a car together in a garage. The one mechanic to the left of the screen pulls out a Snickers bar and begins to eat it. The second mechanic is almost memorized by the candy bar and begins to eat it from the opposite end. The two men eat the candy bar down until their lips meet in a "kiss". They are both instantly shocked by the situation and move apart from each other. The mechanic to the right shouts: "quick do something manly", and then rips out a large chunk of his chest hair. The other mechanic does the same.
After choosing this ad for my paper, I had to decide how to portray it as a single still frame. I was able to capture the image of when the lips of the two men first meet while eating the candy bar. This still image is what makes this ad both intriguing, and funny. At first glance you have no idea what is going on, but it makes you want to continue looking until the whole picture is painted. There are several key features in this picture that make it interesting, and really key you in on what is actually going on. The first attention getting image in this photo is the shear fact that two men are kissing each other. This immediately draws you to wonder why on earth they are doing so. The second image that draws attention is that the man on the right has his eyes open with a distinct look on his face that says "whoa what is happing" in a somewhat horrified manner. The third thing you notice is that neither man looks like they would be the type of person to be in this situation. They are both dressed in flannel, and look very "manly". The two men kissing each other really makes you look hard at this photo. When I see it I can't help but to wonder why they are doing so. The ad is depicted in a garage, and these two guys seem like normal guys, so why are they kissing each other? At this point it is not obvious as to why

On March 11, 2011, a tragedy struck Japan that will never be forgotten. Ocean ridges and mountain ranges below the surface of the ocean caused the waves created by the 9.0 magnitude earthquake off the coast of Japan. These two factors together caused a deathly Tsunami that Japan is still struggling to recover from. The earthquake and tsunami together killed 15,840 people and set off a nuclear crisis at the Fukushima Daiichi plant. Six million households, more than 10% of the total in Japan, were without electricity. In Tokyo, rail service was suspended overnight, elevated highways were shut down and streets remained jammed as commuters who spent the night in shelters fought to get to their homes. To make matters worse, the terrifying natural disaster had sparked a human-caused crisis, as radiation leaks from crippled reactors at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. Three of the plant 's six reactors overheated and their fuel melted down causing hydrogen explosions to blow the tops off three reactor buildings, which lead to a major leak of radiation at levels not seen since Chernobyl in 1986. The authorities hugely underestimated the risks tsunamis posted to the plant. Tokyo Electric had assumed that no wave would reach more than about 20 feet, but little did they know the tsunami would hit more than twice that height. Also, the workers left at Fukushima Daiichi had not been trained to handle multiple failures, causing them to panic. A communication breakdown meant that workers at the plant had no clear sense of what was happening (Tabuchi web). Japan had been scanning for radiation exposure by medical teams because of the risk when radioactive iodine enters the body and settle in the thyroid. Children are especially vulnerable. Thousands of citizens were forced into radiation screenings before they could get help at a shelter or even return to their homes. The Japan tsunami crisis not only destroyed one of Japan’s…

The Paco Rabanna 1 million commercial for men starts by gradually opening to the face of a handsome model with camera lights alternating across his face. As his head emanates up he raises his right hand and snaps his fingers to start the rhythm of a catchy beat. As he snaps his fingers along to the music, materialistic items pop up around him as he dances. The first object shown is an up-close glimpse at a large flashy silver and gold trimmed ring. This is then followed by two red dice which signifies life as a gamble. He then snaps his fingers continuously throughout the advertisement showing an extravagant silver vehicle, a faceless woman embracing him from behind, a stack of money, cameras flashing showing him in the spotlight, emphasis…

Almost the whole advertisement was computer edited and enhanced to make the inanimate objects move in a rabid way. In the beginning none of the men looked at anything other than the screen. Only after they drank some Kickstart did they look at each other; this shows that they were oblivious to their surroundings because of the boredom that consumed them and that this soda made them realize they should go do something together outside. Basically, what this advertisement uses as a whole is the ‘Simple Solution’ technique to convince the buyers: buy a Kickstart to push away the lethargy. Furthermore, the ad uses the ‘Diversion’ technique to totally negate the bad health effects of the soda, distorting its fact and misleading the viewers into making them forget health issues, emphasizing the energy part of the product. The company professionally blended in four advertising techniques to hook the viewers, attempting to make us believe that their product will surely benefit our lifestyle. Since this ad comes along with the ‘Mtn. Dew Kickstart’ series, the ads are ongoing and…

At this ad you will see a red sport Cadillac parked in a fancy looking place and a couple very formal walking toward the car. Target of this ad is both male and female in their late twenties or mid thirties. This ad catches the male side by getting their attention and interest drawn to the red sport Cadillac. They also get the female attention by the logo made of diamonds and the lady who is wearing a pink gown next to a guy who is wearing tuxedos. Few things that made this ad stands for me were the color of the ad, the sophistication of the ad and the subject of the ad. The beautiful bright red and pink used in this ad just gets the audience’s attention in no time. The red used for the car is mostly a famous color that young males like and the pink used for the ceiling, diamonds and the dress is a favorite color for girls. Overall the entire ad looks elegant; the tuxedo and the gown, the diamonds on top of the ad, the beautiful sport Cadillac all are probably a dream come true. Finally when it comes to the subject of the ad, it looks so real. The place where the couple is walking just looks beautiful with trees around it. Where car is parked looks like to be in front of a fancy hotel that you wish…
