In August of 1963 Dr. Martin Luther King delivered some of the most famous words that are thought of today. “All Men are Created Equal.” He meant all Men, Women, White, Black, Asian, Straight, Gay, whatever you are, you should be created equal in all aspects of life. In the 1960’s Dr. King was fighting for Civil Rights of African- Americans who were being discriminated against because of the color of their skin. Something that People can not even control they are being discriminated against.
Now when I look at Dr. Kings Famous speech, especially the part about equality I think about Human Rights and especially the Equality for LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender) People. They can be discriminated against; Fired from a Job for being who they are, or even get killed and the Victimizer does not get in trouble for a Hate Crime at all. Some will argue that being LGBT is a choice, I beg to differ, and either it is a Genetic or a Chemical imbalance that makes LGBT people who they are; I know it is not there choice. In fact According to a CNN Poll, the majority of people polled on the issue of whether gays "choose" their sexuality said that they do not believe that sexuality is a choice. This group made up 56 percent of respondents, up from 45 percent in 2001 and 36 percent in 1998.
It is just not right that you can Kill someone because of who they love and they not be punished on a federal level or be sentenced for a hate crime. You should also not be fired from a job for who you love. In a “Right to work” state people who are LGBT can be fried because they are who they are, and they can not do anything about it.
Marriage is defined by Webster’s dictionary as “The state, condition, or relationship of being married; wedlock.” No where in the definition does it say it is between a man and a woman. In recent years the Right winged political figures and some Christians have said that LGBT people do not have the right to marry because LGBT people can
