Footballers Are Not Overpaid Essay Example
Footballers are not overpaid

Footballers…overpaid? Nonsense. People may try to argue otherwise, but in the end there is no question about it. These skilled, hard-working, hard-training players who use their talent and skill to entertain millions of people every year deserve to be paid amply.
Daily life- what does it revolve around? Money, money and yet more money. But where does this come from? Our economy, fed by the taxes of people like you and me, as well as the football players. How much tax do you expect to pay in a year? £15,000, £20,000, maybe less. Normally, the football clubs would keep this money, using it to make transfers or improve facilities. However, if this money is used for player’s wages, 40% of the money is taken by the government in tax and our economy benefits greatly. Everyone knows Frank Lampard right? The amount he earns a week is £107,000, but almost half of that is lost to the government. Every year, a player who earns as much as Frank will provide over £2,500,000 to our economy- helping infrastructure, healthcare and other vital service. Furthermore, the premier league’s highest paid player- Yaya Toure – contributes over £5,500,000! Imagine what would happen without this funding! Perhaps your free healthcare would demise and you become ill- can you afford to pay for treatment? Many wouldn’t be able to. So I maintain. These players are saving lives. Many say that all of the revenue from football goes into the TV companies and major sponsors such as Adidas, starving the NHS of funding, but really isn’t that a government problem? Maybe they should be the ones pumping money into the NHS, rather than wasting it on other ‘touch-and-go’ projects.
Of course many will argue that we are not the ones in need- the true dilemmas are in less economically developed nations such as Namibia and Ethiopia. Be honest! Who here could do more, help more people, waste less and lighten the weight of your conscience? Nearly everybody. Those who complain need

Television networks already profit lots of money into college football games from late August to January, which begs the question, should the players get something in return? Should college football players get paid? Some may think that graduating from a four-year university with a degree should be considered way before playing football once a week and treating the college game like some sort of a developmental league for the NFL. Others may take into consideration that all the blood and sweat college football players put into the game should be returned with "funding" in their own pockets. I honestly don't think any college athlete, let alone college football players, should be paid because it will take away the tradition of the college game. The one thing college athletics holds over professional sports is the fact that student-athletes represent their schools, programs, alumni, and student body with a sense of pride and honor every time they go out onto the field or step on the hardwood.…

We should continue the football program due to the positive effects it has on those involved. Football is worth keeping because of the confidence players have with the safety equipment.Players feel safe due to padding added all around the helmet to prevent concussions and have fewer head injuries. Then a plastic shell was then added to protect players upper body from harder collisions. Lastly, the program inserted thigh pads, knee pads, and hip pads to cushion and protect legs from injuries. We should keep Football due to the amount of money it brings our school.Football makes enough money to pay for all of the other school sports. It also can make up to about $63,000 a season. Just our programs and donations raised itself $15,000. Lastly, our…

Hundreds of Millions of dollars all around the world are being used to pay our athletes. My question is should they be paid this astronomical amount of money. Certain athletes earn millions while various people all around the world can barely afford the necessities, such as food, water and shelter. This is a problem that desperately needs to be addressed. To achieve this we should employ taxes, but the money made off this should go to charity, also we should lower salary caps, thus we restrict the amounts teams can spend on their players. In this report, I will be explaining why athletes should be paid less…

Its one of the biggest questions in the sports world right now and some people think that they should be paid to play but some would disagree with that. College athletes are some of the hardest working individuals around. Athletes have a routine that includes brutal practices, intense games, and difficult college courses. College athletes carry a tremendous weight on their shoulders. Compensation for college athletes has been a controversial subject for years. Many individuals have their arguments in support of each side. However, no definite decision has been determined in this matter. College athletes should get paid for their performance because their sport is their job; the players have other financial responsibilities they need to handle and their respective schools are gaining significant amounts of money from their talents.…

The article “Do Professional Athletes get Paid too much Money” is written by Mihir Bhagat a senior analyst. Bhagat believes professional athletes make too much money. In his article he explains the amount of money someone is paid should be based on the economic importance and value of the job for society (1). He thinks playing a game isn’t very important when it comes to society (1). Bhagat states that teachers and even the president of the United States get paid less than professional athletes. The article then lists some of the other workers that are paid less than professional athletes such as firefighters, police officers, military workers, and doctors. Over the past decades, what has continued to be one of the most debatable issues in the world of sports is whether or not college football players should get paid. My honest opinion is football that players should receive a certain proportion of money because of the service that college athletes provide to the institution they attend. In addition, they should be rewarded in a reasonable manner after putting their bodies out on the line, bringing in a tremendous amount of money, it will help with the football athletes to begin creating a sense of financial awareness, and finally it will attract more talented athletes.…

Every year people scream and complain that college athletes should be "compensated" for their work on the field. We hear that because college athletes generate money to the university they should get money back. Maybe we should pay high school athletes too, they generate money. College athletes in major universities don't pay for transportation, tuition or team facilities. On top of a free ride the school should pay them as well? Not a chance. I have some very good reasons why college athletes should not be paid.…

Imagine this: you are in the military force, you risk your life on a day-to-day basis for our country's freedom. If you survive fighting, you sleep on an uncomfortable, rock hard bed and eat nauseating food. You work your tail off, yet you actually make less than the average American does yearly. Now, take into perspective, perhaps a professional boxer: they may risk their lives, but it's for our entertainment, not for our safety. When they are done wrestling, they go back to their five star hotels and eat gourmet food. They train, and yes, they may have worked hard to get to where they are, but they're out here making millions per fight, which is way more than what the average American makes. Look closer, should an entertainer really get paid such a profound amount for one fight, rather than those who work to…

A debate has ensued over whether or not colleges should be able to pay their athletes, due to athletic programs bringing in so much money for schools. Not paying college athletes would be good because students already receive compensation towards college, students are given many auditions to become professional, and college is not a job. On the other hand, others argue that college athletes should be paid because schools and coaches are rich from the students' work students do not have any time to have a job, and not paying the athletes may violate federal antitrust laws. The National College Athletic Association, founded in 1910, oversees college athletics. The NCAA established a rule later on stating that it is forbidden to pay college athletes. College athletes should not be paid because it would be unfair and take away college's real purpose.…

36% of Africans live on less than a dollar a day. 20% of the population is undernourished. However, people in foreign countries can help the poorer people by donating to trustworthy charities, and giving aid to the poor Africans who need it the most. Critics of aid say that giving aid to Africans creates stereotypes and doesn’t focus on creating a good economy of government. But it is more important to keep people alive than to create a good government and economy. You need able, healthy citizens to create a good workforce for a country, which is extremely difficult in Sub-Saharan Africa without foreign aid. Aid is needed in Africa because many people would die, it helps to get better death rates and accessible healthcare, and giving aid to keep people alive is more important that improving government.…
