Human Development Index (HDI): Index that includes measures of health (life expectancy) , education, and wealth (GDP) to indicate a country’s level of human development

Scale Conversion: Ratio: measured in cm Direct Statement: uses word to describe the relationship between a distance on a map and specific distance on Earth’s surface, for example, 1 cm to 10km. This means if the distance between two towns on a map is one cm, the actual distance between the towns is 10 kilometers.
Longitude and Latitude: Longitude - are the “vertical” lines on a map and imaginary lines on the earth used to calculate east or west. Latitude - are the 'horizontal' lines - they are used to calculate distance north or south of the equator (a line of latitude around the 'middle' of the world - 0 degrees). Equator - an imaginary line drawn around the earth equally distant from both, north and south poles, dividing the earth into northern and southern hemispheres and constituting the parallel of latitude 0°.
