I Am A Dog
I am a dog A silent beat in the ear, which intrigues me to move my fingers. A stare in my eyes by my cousin with whom I had shared my childhood. I tried my best to stop my fingers but I couldn’t, I moved to another room to breathe an air of freedom. Again there was a call from my mother; I had to go with cousin to repair his laptop. We moved silently on those streets with few exchange of smiles.
A first question came up from his mouth, “Have you been admitted to any college.” I sadly had to say,"NO’. I knew I would not be able to explain him the application process to get admitted in the states. He quickly responded," If you think good of others something good will happen to you otherwise situation will be like yours. "I just remained silent, I had to. We returned back home after a hour. My mom questioned about my frowning face, I was silent there too. She understood me and said,” If you had joined an engineering college you would not had to see this situation. I smiled and went to my room.
I opened up my computer, now I was in my desired world. As usual I was goggling the universities and searching for the opportunities to explore my talents. I used to be surprised why my parents wanted me to be an engineer or doctor. If we are what we are why we needed to prove it by being something. To my delight there was an email in my inbox. There was an invitation for me for an interview. I wanted to appear it as it could be my chance to explore myself. But I also had to go to my maternal uncle house to supervise his ongoing construction works. I knew my interview will not be an excuse for me. To their eye I am a failure and a teenager who doesn’t like to study and doesn't like to take responsibilities. The activism that I am interested to is way I am spending my time. I managed an hour and gave this interview. To my surprise It was taken by person who was junior than me. That day I really felt like I was a

I am going to be a social worker.…

Everyone is asked one question, at a very young age. That question is: “What do you want to be when you grow up?” There isn’t a time I can remember when an adult didn’t ask me this question. When I was six, I would respond with the usual movie star, fashion designer, or veterinarian. My answer would be said confidently, as at this age I walked through life as if it were no big deal. My answer occasionally changed to fit with my many childhood phases, but my view on the question stayed the same. When I was a child, I replied to this inquiry the same way everyone else did; I answered with an occupation. It took me years to discover my new approach to this question. My new response did not include my dream job, but how I saw myself in the future.…
