Steve Harmon is guilty. There is hard evidence that says he had a part in the crime. In the book it says that he was at the planing of the robbery. It also states that he was in the store the day of the robbery. Another piece of evidence is that Osvaldo Cruz said Steve was the look out.
Steve Harmon was indeed at the planing of the robbery. If Steve really had no part in the crime way would he be at the planing? In the novel steve says that after he found out that the store clerck had been killed he started to act odd. This shows that he has a guilty heart. And some one not apart in it wouldn’t feel so bad.
Also Steve Harmon was seen at the store the day of the robbery. This should prove that not only did he go to the planning of the meeting but he followed through on his part of the crime. In the novel Steve says, “All I did was buy some mints is that such a crime” but then says, “I wonder if I’m just fooling myself”. This shows that not even Steve is sure about his innocents. And if he isn’t sure how could the jury be?

In the book Cruz admitted being involved in the crime and provided testimony about King's involvement in the murder of Nesbitt and Steve Harmon's role as a lookout. If he admitted to his own crime and what he said about King was true why would he lie about Steve?
